Maya knocked on Riley's bay window. Riley was sitting in her bed and turned around to see her best friend waiting for her. Maya opened the window and walked in.

"Peaches!" Riley exclaimed as she walked over to sit with Maya.

Maya gulped. "Can we talk about something serious?"

Riley was confused. "What else do we do in here?" she thought out loud.

"This is a bit more serious than the things we've talked about before." Maya responded, shakily.

Riley's heart sank. What could possibly be more serious than the things they'd already talked about? She swallowed her fear.

"Whatever it is, I can handle it. I promise."

Maya took a deep breath, about to say what she was planning on saying, then abruptly turned around and tried to leave. "No, I can't do this."

Riley jumped in front of her and blocked her exit. "Yes, you can."

Maya looked at her doubtfully.

Riley held up her hand. "Ring power."

Maya sighed and sat back down.

"Maya, it's okay. Hey, you don't have to tell me all at once, just…take baby steps."

Maya sighed and nodded. "Okay." That approach made her feel better. "I think…I like someone."

"Okay…" Riley replied. "Is…it Lucas?"

Maya shook her head. "No."

"Is it…Farkle?"

"Ew, of course not!"

Riley giggled in response. "Um…okay. Is it…someone I know?"

Maya smiled. "Yah, I'd say you know them pretty well. I'd say you're still figuring out who they are a little bit, but deep down, you know them."

Riley was confused. "Do you know them well?"

Maya smiled even wider. "Oh yah, I definitely know them well."

This confused Riley even more. "So…it's not Lucas…and it's not Farkle…but it's someone we both know really well…"

Maya's smile began to fade. Riley was getting closer. Maya wasn't sure if she was ready.

Riley was deep in thought.

Maya felt she had to give her one important clue. It wasn't going to be easy to say it, but she felt she had to.

"It's not a boy, Riley." Maya blurted out.

Riley was in shock. Not a bad shock, just a shock. "Oh." She responded, shakily.

Maya didn't know how to take this so she just went with it. She didn't want Riley to see her react just yet.

"A…girl that we both know well…"

Maya's heart was pounding. Riley had to figure it out now.

"It wouldn't be Smackle, would it?"

Maya couldn't take it anymore. "It's you, Riley."

Riley stared blankly at her, hardly believing what her best friend just said.

Tears welled up in Maya's eyes.

"What?" Riley let out feebly.

Maya looked down at her feet. "Riley…you know that I love you, I always have…but lately I've been thinking that I have…different…feelings for you…"

Riley stared at her inquisitively.

Maya looked up from her feet and directly into Riley's eyes.

"Riley Matthews, I am in love with you."

They both stared at each other in silence, Riley void of emotion, Maya holding back tears.

"This was a mistake." Maya began to make her way out once again until Riley grabbed her by the arm, sat her down, and put her face in her hands. Just like she had when impersonated what Lucas had done in Texas.

Maya's heart stopped.

Riley pulled her close and gave her a kiss on the lips. Just a quick, small one, like the first one she'd given Lucas.

"Riley?" Maya asked, heart pounding.

"Maya…" Now Riley was looking down at her feet. "I've…actually been wanting to talk to you about the same thing."

Maya gasped, then grinned.

"I've been feeling the exact same way. I thought the way I felt about you was just love for a friend…but now I think it might be more than that." She looked directly into Maya's eyes. "Maya Penelope Hart, I, too, am in love with you.

A tear streamed down Maya's face. The two embraced for longer than they ever had before.
