Okay, so I've finished Terra's Arabian Nights...
While working on it I had the script to the Disney classic movie, script to the Aladdin A Musical Spectacular and soundtracks to both...
For the musical, Tim Rice had composed a new song for Jasmine to sing called 'To Be Free'
I didn't included the song for the fanfiction story becaused it was more based off the film...
Big mistake...
The song itself started bugging me because it was beautiful and it deserved a spot since it's a song that Jasmine sings by herself...
To your pleasure, I bring Princess Iris singing 'To Be Free'
Iris belongs to the Silver Magician of Chaos.
This is just after chapter 6, while Terra was in the cave of wonders...
After a long night of crying, Iris went out to her balcony. Sitting near the railing was a birdcage on a stand. Inside, a small bluebird was chirping and jumping around. His wings flapped against the bars, searching for a way to freedom.
"You little bird, always able to fly even when you're trapped in this cage." Iris said.
The bird paid no mind to the princess. It was still busy trying to escape. Like she was...
Why couldn't she be free as well? There were so many things to do outside of this boring castle...heck, this boring kingdom. Just seeing it all alone would make her day. It would be better to enjoy with someone she cared about. Her father was getting to old for traveling around, so she would want to see it all with a friend...or a husband.
That's right...she wouldn't be choosing a husband anytime soon. He was already picked out and waiting for her. It's just not fair to her. Why can every other princess have a right to be married or not while she's stuck listening to what everyone else tells her what to do?
What's the use of complaining? She lost Terra... she lost hope...
The bird tweeted inside his cage...singing a sorrowful tune in his desperate attempt at freedom.
"Lucky bird inside a guilded cage..." Iris sang. "I remember words spoken by an ancient sage."
The bird stopped singing to listen to the princess's song.
"Everything you may have in life, will one day all be dust. Must I yearn forever to be free? Free to climb a tree and ponder or simply wonder?"
Iris came over to the cage and sat next to it.
"There's no desire I hold fonder, Than to be simply me to be free..."
She leaned closer and saw the bluebird watch her.
"How ungrateful is this lucky bird, spurning privilege for a single word. Freedom to stretch those golden wings. Freedom to touch the sky..."
The princess looked up at the dawning morning with deep longing.
"Why, some would ask, would she want to be? Or to throw away treasure, and be poor with pleasure? I'd sacrifice riches beyond measure. I'm just a girl, who wants a boy, to feel love and to feel joy... I just want to be really free..."
The dawn came up, lighting Agrabah for a new day. Iris looked around from her balcony, watching the citizens wake up for breakfast.
"To be free..." she sighed.
Did I mention that the song is super short?
Yeah minor detail...
So now I feel better for including it... I hope you all enjoyed it too
See ya next time!
