I smiled and shook my head, "No, Danny, I don't think 'savage' really fits Heather…something more…vicious."
Sammy suggested, "What about evil torturing demon?"
"Perfect! I need to write that one down."
Danny and I had bumped into Marissa and Sammy at the mall, and now we were sitting outside on the grass talking about synonyms for Heather, my evil sister.
I looked sideways, peeking at Marissa who was fidgeting…a lot. Sammy nudged her and whispered something to her. Marissa nodded and tried to look casual, but Heather could've fooled me more, she was faking something, all right.
Then Marissa piped up with a random, "Oh! Did you guys see that new store? Right Sammy? Remember the one your mom made you buy something from?"
"Juicy Couture?" Sammy asked.
"Yeah, that was it!" Marissa squealed, "That store was sooo awesome!"
"Juicy Couture?" I asked, "Heather likes that company, it's a designer, right?"
"Yeah," Marissa said, "And Sammy's mom gave her Five Hundred bucks to spend there."
"Shut Up!" Sammy said.
"FIVEHUNDRED?" Danny shouted, "WHERE DID SHE"—
"She's an actress," Sammy said quickly.
"Your mom's name is Lana?" Danny asked.
"Uh…" Sammy looked sideways, "Maybe."
"She plays Jewel on Lords! I knew it! My mom's sudsy about that soap!"
"Sudsy?" Sammy laughed, "That fits it! And…shhhh…!"
I finally asked, "But why did your mom let you spend that much money?"
"I was running errands for her…for a 'special occasion'. She needed jewelry and purses and that junk." Sammy said, 'Better not have been a date."
Sammy looked at her watch, "Oh! Gotta go!"
"Yeah!" Marissa said, peering at Sammy's watch, "Let's go!"
They seemed really serious. What was up?
"Bye!" They quickly said, and they hopped on their vehicles (Sammy's skateboard and Marissa's bike) and rode off.
They seemed to be acing really strange. I mean really strange.
Something was up.
Something not-so-great.
