3… 2… 1… Happy New Year!!!!!!
Unfortunately I don't own any of the Darren Shan Saga, they have been written by the fabulous Darren Shan (the author).
"3… 2… 1… Happy New Year!!!!" We yelled at no-one in particular. It was finally 2010 and I was celebrating in my best-friend's room. "Wooo!!! Yet another year has gone by… Let the new year of terror begin!" I smiled at my best-friend, laughing along with him as he plotted evil schemes of new proportions. "Hey Darren," I said, breaking off his malicious laughter. "How long have we known each other now??" I mentally tried counting back but in less than a few seconds he had beaten me to it. "10 years, 4 months, 13 days, 10 hours, 7 minutes and 29 seconds." He looked at his watch. "30 secs… 31… 32… 33…"
"I get the idea!!! Any way, that's very precise. Have you been counting??" I laughed, and he looked away from me and mumbled. "Yeah, it's to do with the fact that…" I couldn't hear the rest, but I blushed. He counts the exact time we've known each other?? Why?? He looked at me, his expression almost scared. "Have you been listening to me?" He questioned. "Not since you answered my question up to '…with the fact that…' but I didn't hear the rest. Was it important?" He sighed. I reminisced as he sat there debating whether to repeat himself or not. I remembered when I first met him and punched that guy in the face, when we first really became best-friends and when I realised I loved him more than a friend. I laughed silently at myself. I never thought I'd turn out gay. That's life for ya.
A pillow suddenly flew at my head, missing by inches; only Darren had a rubbish aim like that. "What?" I snapped out of my day dreamy state to give Darren the evil look. He was sat cross-legged with his arms crossed on the floor. He looked like my wife. If only… "You kicked me off the bed, you great lummox!" I laughed as he stuck his delicate pink tongue at me, childish, but funny at the same time. "Look, Steve, I need to say something…"
"Then say it dude. I've got a hot date to go to."
"Really?"
"No you idiot. Carry on." Hang on. Was that jealousy I saw in his usually soft eyes? Must be my imagination. "I… I… I can't say it. I don't know how."
"Then can you write it down or show me if possible. My bum's going numb."
"Fine. But you brought this upon yourself…"
"Brought what? A bomb? I haven't brought anything! Honestly…" And he kissed me. I sat there immobilised with shock and pure pleasure. "I'm sorry Steve, I didn't…" I smiled. "…What are you grinning at?" My grin turned into a smirk then back into a grin. Then I kissed him. The kiss slowly became more and more heated as his tongue ran across my lower lip, begging for entrance. My lips parted slightly and our tongues danced around each other, weaving a trail of passion. His hands slowly traced down my back and snuck under my shirt. I pulled away, gasping for air, but Darren didn't seem to need any oxygen as he moved to bite my neck. He pulled away and smiled at me as he took my shirt over my head. In return, I took his and we returned to kissing, hands everywhere, becoming one person.
My head connected with carpet as we tumbled off the bed and on to the floor. We parted and stood up laughing as Darren's parents yelled to tell us to quiet down because Annie was asleep. "I have a feeling this is going to be a great year." Darren stated calmly. "Nope. It's gonna be one of the best and awesomest."
