A young girl sat alone in her bed, covered by a heavy blanket as she read one of her favorite books by the light of the lamp. The little girl shivers, forgetting that she had left the window open until the cold fall breeze billows the curtains. As she shifts in the bed to close the window, a figure catches her eye. A tall, thin figure in all black, hood obscuring his face. The figure stays standing in the lane beside the girl's house, waiting, knowing that she was watching. A car starts driving up the lane, appearing to not notice the lanky man. The car is nice and new, a young male driving it, and soon, screams ensue from the man as the dark figure engulfs the vehicle and man in darkness. Watching anxiously, her eyes are glued to the spot as the darkness fades to reveal that the car is now rusted and rickety….the man no longer young as he once was, now older and more zombie-like. The young girl let out a scared gasp, the lanky man turns to her, pale face and eyes locking right onto the young child's face.

Frightened, she runs into her parent's room, calling out their names, only to not find them there. She searches the living room, dining room, kitchen, and basement, unable to find them, or the dog, anywhere. She decides to look outside, calling for her parents once more when she suddenly realizes that all the people she see's, even her parents and dog, have been turned into the same zombie like state as the young man in the car that she had witnessed.
The girl lets out a scream as the tall man, no, thing, appears suddenly in front of her, his rank, sour breath filling her nose, causing her to cringe away from him. She can hear his deep, raspy voice as if it is shaking through her entire body, leaving the girl shivering in disgust. "You are next." Is what he says, and in a rush she races back to her room, trying to close the door, which for some reason is no longer like the modern bedroom door. It is now a wooden plank like door, with a wooden board place down lock, that is too short to go in the slot. Giving up on the door, she races to hide under the bed, not having much space, and hoping he will not find her.

Minutes pass by, and the girl can hear torturously slow and heavy footsteps go up the stairs and into her room. With her eyes locked onto the creature's feet, she watches as his feet stop right beside the bed. The creature leans down and lifts the cover to stare right into her eyes, and the last thing the girl is left to do is let out a shrill scream as she is pulled into darkness.

~Hello readers, if you are confused, let me explain. I am writing a mini story series based off of nightmares I had as a little girl, this is one of the ones that had frightened me the most, I was left scared of the lane for at least a week. The next story I post will deal with a crazy neighbor and the same lane, not as scary, but still enough for me to still remember.

Please go ahead and leave a review, no flames please, I will ignore those. I love having helpful comments on what I can do better in my writing, so go ahead. Happy reading!~
