AN: This is my first fanfiction poem, and my first entry for this section. Basically, it's the water-down version of Shakespeare's play, just molded into a poem. Lots more happens in the story, but this is the basics. You know, boy and girl meet, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl aren't supposed to be in love, boy and girl marry, boy has to go, girl's daddy wants her to marry another, and everyone dies. The end. But the poem, I think, tells it better. Enjoy!
Romeo and Juliet in a Nutshell
So long ago, that cursed romance
That blossomed merely from a glance
Between the children of feuding families
Commanded to overcome their rivalries
They fell deeply in love when they first met
Only to find he was a Montague and she a Capulet
By then it was too late to turn back the clock
So the friar they asked their love to lock
But soon death caught Romeo's dear friend
And Romeo sent him after Juliet's kinsman
The Prince allowed for banishment
No on knowing of the secret lovers' establishment
Then, old Capulet arranged for a bond
Between Paris and Juliet to keep nobility strong
Whilst Juliet is in a fickle, the Capulets all mourn
Yet the fair-maiden stays faithful, as her love is sworn
So the friar again lends assistance
Planning for Juliet to take death's stance
But he fails to inform Romeo
Whose servant brings him news of woe
So Romeo goes to Capel's tomb and takes his life
When not two seconds later awakes his wife
And, with grief, Juliet dies as well
Leaving only this story to tell.
AN: I wasn't able to squeeze in the deaths of Paris and Lady Montague, but Mercutio and Tybalt's deaths were mentioned. :) REVIEWS are always a nice way of saying what you think about something, no?? (They're also much appreciated.)
