A Place To Be.

Helen Magnus breathed the cool air deeply, turning her face to catch the gentle breeze. She balanced with the ease of long practice on the parapet, no longer noticing the vertical drop in front of her. Below her the city spread out, a complex network of lives. Up here she felt disconnected from everyday problems and concerns. Up here she could find peace after a hard day, comfort after a bad one. Here, on the edge of the world she could stop thinking and just be.

Twisting her head slightly she caught the sound of footsteps making their way up towards her. With a small smile she turned to greet her newest recruit, glad that he too had found somewhere he could be.
