A man had once said to Alyss and Will, whilst they were both on a mission, to count their blessings then. The man had known that with the dangerous life that they both lead one of them would have ended up dead before they could truly live their lives.
How right he had been.
And as Alyss sat in the Inn and looked down at the bottom of the empty ale glass she remembered words that Will had once said.
Forever, he had whispered to her. She had been a couple of seconds from falling asleep and through the drug (she had been recovering from a serious injury) Alyss had managed to ask the question of how long he would stay by her side.
Forever he had said. And they had both known that he hadn't only meant by her bedside whilst she was recovering, he had meant in life.
It had been the one promise he had ever broken.
