Disclaimer: I don't own Death Note, no matter how much I wish I do.
I also don't own Cresent, who belongs to UnfamiliarSound.
But I do own Mello's sister who is mentioned like, once.
Death had never been much of anything in his eyes. One push of the trigger and bam! They were dead.
It was easy as that. No pain, no agony, just instantaneous death.
Mello never knew how much suffering could be in involved in something as simple as dying.
Until now.
As soon as his heart started to pound irregularly, he knew what had happened.
Takada had written his name down on a hidden piece of the Death Note.
As the pain slowly grew stronger, regrets bubbled inside his mind.
He regretted living his life the way he had.
He regretted treating Matt like a tool and taking his best friend for granted.
He regretted keeping his sister away from her only chance at true love, Matt.
And most of all, he regretted never telling the girl he loved his true feelings.
She had been the light of his life, the thing that kept him going.
If it hadn't been for her, he was sure he'd be dead way before now.
The image of her face appeared in his mind's eye, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Her mouth opened, as if to say something, but not a word came.
It wasn't like the Cresent he knew in any way, but somehow, it fit.
His fingers' tightened on the wheel, as if trying to keep a hold on life, and tears formed in the corner of his eyes, but not one fell.
Because it was too late for Miheal Keehl.
His head slumped over, gently hitting the steering wheel, his eyes still wide as saucers.
Miheal Keehl's last thoughts were tainted with lost love and regrets, pain and suffering, loss and hate.
