Max was chasing an enemy agent in a park. He caught up with him alongside a pond. They punched and wrestled for a couple minutes.

Finally, the agent was able to grab Max. He threw him into the water, then he ran off.

The water got deep quickly. Rather than get out to pursue the man, Max just sat in it.

A minute later, 99 came along. "Bogerov's gone!-Max, what are you doing in the water?"

"I'm thinking."

"Thinking about what?"

"Thinking about giving up my badge!"

"WHAT?!"

"99, I'm a failure!"

"No, you're not, Max!"

"Yes, I am. Think of all the cases we've lost because of my incompetence. No wonder the Chief gets headaches when I'm in his presence! Maybe it would be a good thing for the country if I quit CONTROL."

99 slipped her sandals off and waded into the pond to get closer to Max.

"99, you don't need to get your feet wet on my account!"

"Now, you listen to me, and listen to me good, Maxwell Smart: You are a damned fine agent!"

"I am?"

"Yes, Max. That's on of the reasons I fell in love with you."

"It is?"

"Yes, Max. You're a little bit bumbling at times, I will admit that. And you have lost a few cases. But think of all the ones you've won."

"Such as?"

"Remember when KAOS tried to discredit you by making it appear that you were mentally incompetent, and you got put on trial? You saw through their scheme."

"Yes, that's right."

"And remember when Siegried kidnapped the Chief, and all those other agents? It was you who saved them, Max."

"Oh, yeah. That was one of my finest moments!"

"It was, Max. And remember when I was kidnapped at that health spa, and you saved me?"

"We took a mud bath together!"

"Yes, we did, Max!"

"I guess I am a pretty good agent, after all!"

"Yes, you are, Max."

He got up and waked over to 99. "Thanks, I needed that!"

They hugged and kissed. Unfortunately, Max tripped, and the two of them tumbled into the water!"

"Sorry about that, 99! I guess I am a little clumsy!"

"It's OK, Max. I was going to dry-clean this dress, anyway!"
