Disclaimer: I do not own The Hunger Games or anything else in this story. Well except for the plot, although it doesn't really have one.

A/N: I wrote this last night on my iPhone, so I know it's really short... But here it is! :)

Glimmer looked around at the stars. They surrounded the building, making the place almost beautiful. It would've been perfect if it hadn't been the night before the Games.

Sometimes she wondered what it would've been like if she'd been born somewhere else, like the Capital, or even outside of the districts altogether, if there was any such thing. But then something always reminded her that she wasn't, and that it was almost inevitable that she would be in the Games.

Fate never seemed to disappoint, and so when she was chosen for the Games it was no great surprise. She'd left her home, and her many (ex) boyfriends. Not that she'd really liked any of them. None of them had liked her for anything but her blonde hair or her perfect smile.

"You okay?" she recognized Cato's voice immediately.

"How did you get up here?" She asked. It was a mandatory question, and she didn't really care how he got there, she was just glad he was there.

"My mentor didn't really care where I went. So I came here." she could sense a touch of a smile on his face, but with the seriousness of the situation it was faded.

She just patted the spot next to her. She felt like a child asking for another child to come watch something with her. In a way that's what they were doing. Watching the Capitol preparing for their deaths. Well hers anyway, with Cato in the games she knew she wouldn't be going home.

He came and sat next to her on the balcony. She felt his arm go around her and she closed her eyes. Pretended she was home. And for a second, just a second, she believed everything would be fine.

Did you like it? Please tell me in a review! Thanks so much! :)
