Prologue

'That Girl'

That girl over there...

Being so quiet,

Why don't she talk?

Why does she stay so quiet?

Maybe she's just shy,

Or has nothing to say...

She fades into the distance,

"We don't care if she stays..."

But they were wrong,

She had something to say,

When she spoke, noone listened,

She began to fade,

She listened to everyone,

Their questions and problems,

And tried to help,

But did not trouble them with any of hers,

She calmed herself quickly,

But when she did speak,

Ever so softly,

Noone heard her,

Noone would care,

Except for one person,

Someone who listened,

And cared for her,

She spoke to him every night,

Right before she slept,

Sometimes she wept,

It was comforting to know,

That someone would listen,

Someone would care for her,

Nothing special,

Someone worth noone's time,

Yet he said she was special,

He said everything was going to be alright,

And she believed him,

And she prayed day and night,

She thanked him for his kindness,

And what he had done,

But she soon got people to hear her,

Got them to understand,

She could see people listened,

People could talk back,

He slowly faded,

Faded to black,

Now she is left realizing,

What she had done,

The person who cared,

Who said she was special,

She forgot about,

And thought nothing of it,

Now she remembers,

All he's done and more,

And can't thank him enough,

She re-opened the door,

And let him inside,

To stay forevermore,

She hopes she'll never make that mistake again,

But if she does,

This poem she will read,

And remember he's there,

Always

Forever
