I didn't finish my other story yet, but I just had to start writing this one when the idea popped into my head. It's a MollyXIgnis story, placed in Harvest Moon Animal Parade. Hope you enjoy!
Ignis
"Enter."
The great marble doors opened before me, revealing an enormous circular room filled with stained glass windows and gold flooring. Around the outside sat chairs, and in each chair one of the many High Gods sat. I entered the room and bowed graciously.
"Proceed," said the Master, King of all Gods, his voice booming across the room. The floor shook from the power of his voice. I walked slowly and respectfully to the centre of the room, and faced the Master, bowing once again. Only then did I speak.
"Master, you are gracious and powerful, and may the universe bow down before you, and praise you and thank you for the marvelous worlds you have created." This line was said every time one was called into the Great Hall. Forgetting to say it was the biggest dishonour to the Master.
"Ignis. You may be wondering why I have called you here," said the Master. "We have been watching you for a long time, and have decided we are pleased with your reign over the animal kingdom. We have decided today that you will no longer rule over animals, but humans. Your destination is Castanet Island. You may speak now, if you wish.
I had known this day was coming. There were many Gods despite the High Gods and the Master, and I was one of those Gods. Each one of us was called to govern and rule over animals for a period of time, before the Gods decided we were ready to move on. I had been ruling over animals for 15 years.
I spoke, graciously thanking the Master for his decision. I told I would begin my reign tomorrow at sunrise, and was sent away. I walked to the palace and entered to sanctuary to meditate until it was time to leave for Castanet Island.
Molly
"C'mon Molls, hurry up! Geez, we can't be late for this!"
"Coming, coming," I called to my best friend Owen as I rushed out the front door. He grabbed my hand was we started running. Today was the welcoming ceremony of the new God. Once every century, different Gods were appointed to different places. And to be alive when it happened was the greatest honour. Or so I've heard.
I had been on Castanet Island for almost a year, and the end of winter was nearing. The new year was only four days away. During my time here, I had grown to love the Island. I had made many friends, my best being Owen.
We ran as fast as we could and just made it to the mountaintop where the ceremony was being held. The citizens were all kneeling in a circle around a small platform. Hamilton the Mayor gave me us a look that said "cutting it close, aren't we"?
I knelt down beside Owen. For a minute or two, nothing happened. Then all of a sudden, a mysterious light appeared in the centre of the platform, a light so bright that everyone had to shield their eyes and look away. When the light had gone, we looked back to see a man standing there, looking over us. He was very tall, with long red hair and red eyes. He had on a red and white robe that fell to the ground, and gold bands around his neck and arms. He gave off an aura that said "I am in charge, do as I say." It actually made me a little afraid of him.
There was complete silence from everyone. I had no idea what was to happen, so I did nothing. I watched the man as his red eyes looked around the circle, stopping to stare at each person before moving on. When he got to me, I squeezed Owen's hand to keep from closing my eyes. He narrowed his eyes, but soon moved on, and I relaxed.
After the God had looked over every person, he spoke with a booming voice. "I am your new king. You may call me Harvest God. I am here to watch, rule, and make decisions for the land of Castanet. No one shall disturb me, unless called upon. If there is a problem, I shall know about it from my Sprites and I shall do what I can to resolve it. That is all."
I had no idea what to do next, but everyone in the circle bent their heads down and did a kneeling bow to the Harvest God. I followed. When I looked back up, he was staring right at me. I looked down to drop his gaze, and didn't dare look back up at him after that. I then saw the Mayor stand up and bow to the Harvest God. The God made a gesture that allowed him to speak.
"O Mighty God, here is our offering for you." He held out a basket of shining crops.
"Hmm. Bring it forward," ordered the Harvest God.
The Mayor did so, and then knelt back down. The Harvest God then made a gesture of dismissal, and we followed the Mayor in single file down the mountain.
