So i know I have stories that I should be working on and that I have had ideas for for a few days now, but this story had just hit me and I felt that I had to write it. Here we go. Takes place after the Quincy arc (whenever that ends) and is the first time Squad nine is together after the fight with Superstar.

Shuhei Hisagi and Mashiro Kuna sat uneasily in the office of squad nine. Their captain Kensei Muguruma was coming back today. He had been in rehab for a few days after the Quincy's had torn him apart. He had been banged up pretty bad, and both sat there worried about what he would do upon his return. Mashiro thought of the time when they fought against Aizen. Kensei had warned her about using her mask so long, that it would go away when she needed it the most. She had ignored him, thinking that she knew better. Then it happened. Her mask disappeared just when she needed it and she was nearly killed. It was only thanks to Kensei acting quickly that saved her life. He had held her to protect her as he sent the enemy away, then he went to fight the enemy. Despite the fact that he told her he wasn't, she knew he was avenging her. Now she couldn't even had been there to help him when he needed her the most. Shuhei on the other hand felt like a failure. Over a hundred years, hard training and even the position of Lieutenant, and he still needed to be saved by the very same man again. He had been told to go all out form the start, but he was still too afraid, and for that he was nearly killed. If Kensei didn't show up when he did and take the man on, Shuhei wouldn't have been there anymore. Then they heard footsteps and felt a strong spiritual pressure. The two immediately dashed around the office, trying to make it look like they were doing something useful. Kensei flung the doors open as he strolled in, and they could tell he was still steaming about it all. "There you two are you idiots." he growled as he came in. Both of them froze in their tracks and Kensei turned to face Shuhei. "What the hell is wrong with you?! You got defeated without even showing the results of your training!" he yelled. Shuhei looked down, ready to take whatever punishment Kensei felt like giving him. He was in the wrong afterall. Then he heard a sigh. A hand came up to his head, resting on the back of his neck. Then he felt himself pulled forward, his head coming to rest on Kensei's shoulder, and the bump of a body beside him told him that Kensei had pulled in Mashiro too. His hands slipped down a bit, and the two lieutenants realized that he was hugging them.

"Captain..." Shuhei gasped in surprise.

"Kensei..." Mashiro whispered. Never, in the many years that she knew him, never had Kensei hugged her.

"Neither of you ever do I tell you! What good are two Lieutenants who don't even listen to their Captain?! Damn it! I could have lost you idiots! If that would happen what would I do huh? I want you two to promise me right now, that you'll freaking listen to me from now on! Understand?!" he growled. The two were frozen for a second. This wasn't like their ruff Captain, but his voice sounded like it was on the verge of breaking.

"Yes sir." Shuhei said.

"Alright Kensei." Mashiro agreed. Kensei held them for a second longer before releasing them both.

"Alright then, let's go. We're training." he said. They both nodded. Shuhei knew this training session would be tough, that Kensei was going to beat out all of his frustrations on them and try to make them stronger. In a way though, that's what made the Lieutenants both happy. They knew it was how Kensei showed that he cared. Mashiro and Shuhei came to a mutual agreement. In the entire Soul Society, there was no better Captain for either of them then Kensei.
