Sapphires and Smiles
AN: Just a short 'n' sweet one-shot because it's the 1st of October which is Julie Andrews birthday so I wrote this.

Clarisse Gerard Romero sat in the large chair by her window that looked out onto the sea. It was wonderful to think that she had been married for just over 10 years. She had 3 adorable great grandchildren, her own granddaughter was sitting on the throne proudly and her husband, Nicholas stood by her side.
Joseph slipped into the room quietly and sat beside her the automatically entwined their fingers sitting in a comfortable silence looking at the waves.
"Penny for your thoughts, my love?" Joseph asked he was closer to 80 than Clarisse but both of them were still as fit as a fiddles.
"Just how lucky I am. You, Mia, Pierre, my whole family. I love you" she smiled at him. Joseph tool out a small velvet covered box.
"Happy birthday my love" he whispered as she opened the box. He chuckled to himself as she gasped in amazement and told him 'he shouldn't have' she did that nearly every year. Shook the delicate necklace and put it on, well Joseph did then gently kissed her neck. The subtle sapphire jewel glistened on her upper chest. Clarisse caressed his cheek, like she had done so many times over the years then kissed him, it was an innocent kiss but it wasn't a 'take me to bed NOW' kiss it was beautiful which the married couple seemed to enjoy quite a bit.
Running footsteps could be hear from and distance. Joseph looked as wife stole one more kiss before the youngest of their great grandchildren entered, Charlie then his sister, Juliet (named after Nicholas' mother) and finally the eldest Philippe.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA!" they chorused before hugging Clarisse, who was beaming from ear to ear.
For the rest of the day she celebrated her birthday with Mia and Nicholas, Charlie, Juliet and Philippe and of course her wonderful Joseph. The whole day went by so fast but the smile never left Clarisse's face.
When Joseph and Clarisse retired to bed after finishing hot coco and a little dancing she was not 30 seconds into Joseph's arms before the soft murmurs of her sleeping filled the room.
Her birthday had been practically perfect in every way.
AN: I have written the next chapter to ITMOTQ and it should be up soon I've had test coming out my ears this week and more to come so I apologise for that.
