AN: When I wrote this story it made me think of the Peter Gabriel song - In Your Eyes and I have included a few words from the song. It is not a song fic. This is dedicated to tearose - since she is the one that got me hooked on the Walter x Seras pairing - which is a good thing.

Disclaimer: Of course I don't own Hellsing - or I wouldn't be writing fan fics

-Peter Gabriel, In Your Eyes

Different.

He didn't look the same to her any longer.

Different.

It was how she felt whenever he walked into the room.

Different.

The way that he has looked at her since that night.

Seras went over it in her head to try and figure it out. She just couldn't make sense of any of it. Could it really be true? Ridiculous – vampires can't fall in love, can they? Seras was sure if she asked her Master, he wouldn't give her an answer. No, he would just laugh at her. Besides, Walter was so much older then her. What could they possibly have in common? Then again, Walter Dollneaz was not your typical old man – far from it. He didn't even look like he was 70 years old.

Her thoughts drifted back to that night. The mansion had gotten attacked again. Seras was getting used to vampires or Section XIII trying to enact their revenge on either her Master or Sir Hellsing. Alucard had gone out for the evening so it was just Walter, herself, and Sir Hellsing. Seras had caught the intruder just as he was getting ready to take a bite from Integral's neck. That was when things went all wrong.

As soon as Seras pushed the vampire off of Integral, he had turned his attentions to her. The vampire had looked at her so strangely – like he liked her or something. Then the bastard attacked her. He had pinned her against the wall, tore into her neck with his fangs, and ripped her shirt off. Through it all Seras had fought him. She had managed to push him away just as Walter had run into Integral's bedroom.

Walter didn't waste any time restraining him with metal wires. Seras grabbed the gun from Sir Integral's nightstand and shot the bastard. It was the moments that followed in which everything changed.

Seras tried to stop trembling after the vampire dropped to the floor. She had watched her mother get raped as a young girl and thought the same thing was going to happen to her. Seras had smiled gratefully at Walter and thanked him. She tried unsuccesfuly to cover up her chest with her arms - it was impossible because of its size. It was the way she looked at her that made Seras stop. He didn't ogle her chest like most men. Walter did look at her breasts but he looked at the rest of her too. For a few brief seconds Walter looked at her like she was the most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes on. No one had ever looked at Seras like that. She just felt so different in that moment in his eyes.

He had been such a gentleman after they were able to tear their eyes from each other. He had gotten a blanket from Integral's closet and draped it on her shoulders and covered her up. Then Walter had asked her if she was okay. He hadn't expected her to strong or unaffected because she was a vampire. He had accepted her with all of her imperfections.

Seras smiled at the memory. It was one of those rare moments that you have in life, when nothing that follows is ever the same. Seras knew that she was falling in love with Walter and couldn't have been happier if she were still alive.
