Hiya, everybody! I wanted to make a companion fic to go along with Friends & Other Unrealistic Dreams. This one sort of speaks for itself. It's quite a bit shorter than the other one. On another note, I just saw The Deathly Hallows Part 2. It was excellent. You all are going to love it! I saw it yesterday. It's amazing. It will have you at the edge of your seat in anticipation. And also, the soundtrack is wonderful. You should check it out! Okay. I'll stop with my shameless pimping/bragging. I hope you enjoy this story! I don't own Harry Potter.

"How would you like to come to Slughorn's party with me tonight?"

Everything stopped.

Luna's heart stopped. She waved her hands near her ears. Wrackspurts? Her brain had to have been really fuzzy to dream up Harry asking her to a party. A formal party, nonetheless.

There was no way that Harry Potter just asked her to go somewhere with him. There was just no way. It wasn't possible. She knew it couldn't be happening. She checked her ears again.

"Slughorn's party? With you?" Luna asked, wanting to hear the words again. If she didn't hear them again, how could she know? How could she be certain? How could she know this wasn't just another amazing dream?

Harry stuffed his hands in his pocket. He made the face. The one that made her love him all the more. "Yeah. We're supposed to bring guests, so I thought you might like; I mean, just as friends, you know. But if you don't want to-"

There it was.

The heartache.

Just as friends.

She shouldn't be surprised. She knew this would happen. Ever since she had fallen in love, she had known.

Harry would most definitely break her heart.

Of course, she knew that he wasn't doing it to be malicious. More likely than not, he didn't even know what he had just said was make her hurt.

Luna knew Harry very well. She also knew for fact that he liked Ginny. Ginny was her friend.

Friend.

Just months ago that was the most wonderful word she had heard in her entire life.

Now, it was the most vulgar word she could muster.

Her brain furrowed deep within itself, and she held onto what she had begun to think of as a life motto.

It's better to have Harry's friendship than to have nothing from him at all.

I want to go to the party!

I want to go to the party!

I want to go to the party!

Luna knew that Harry wasn't that good with girls. Because of this, she knew that going to this party with him probably would be no more than seeing him at any other time of the year was.

Would he be ashamed of her?

Would he regret coming with her?

She wouldn't be able to bear that pain.

She couldn't do that type of hurt again, of losing someone that she loved.

She wasn't going to be a replacement for Ginny.

She made a decision.

"Oh no, I'd love to go with you as friends! Nobody's ever asked me to a party before, as a friend!"

She found that with each word, her soul died a little bit more.

I do love reviews. I would love if you all left one for me. :) They're pretty awesome. Anyways, I might make another companion fic in the future, but I promise nothing...
