George spun to meet a new attacker: a tall brunet with terribly deep black eyes glittering maliciously. "You'll never save them," he sneered. The Rogue did his best to fend off the man, at the same time eyeing the scene behind the brunet.

Claw –known in the past as Ralon –attacked his wife, Alanna, with mere daggers and he was winning. His scorched eye held more than a touch of madness. Before he could rationalize the scene, Eleni popped in, charms around her neck. But Claw spotted her within a second and threw a dagger at her neck, both slicing the charms and slitting her throat in one movement.

That was when George couldn't stand it. If he couldn't save his mother, at least he could save Alanna. He lunged wildly at his attacker, trying to get rid of him so that he could save the love of his life.

In one swoosh, the brunet sliced his head off and it rolled to the ground, settling at the perfect spot to watch Ralon murder his wife.

The Baron of Pirates' Swoop awoke in the middle of the night, sweating profusely. He gasped for breath that he hadn't actually lost. He groped at his neck. It's still here… he thought, relieved. He turned on his side and checked for Alanna. She was still there.

George realized that Alanna wasn't his wife when Claw had been alive. And his mother couldn't simply pop out of nowhere. He couldn't believe that he didn't rationalize it sooner.

"Oh, thank Mithros," he sighed. "It was all just a dream."

He snaked an arm around her and kissed her neck. "Thank Mithros."

"Thank Mithros for what?"

Alanna turned to face him. To George's horror, her face looked like it was burnt with acid. Her eyes weren't the lustrous purple he loved but black, terrifying holes. "George, what's wrong?"

He shrieked rather girlishly and pushed her away. The person in his bed yelled his name as he punched and slapped with all his might, even kicking sometimes.

One last time, it bellowed, "GEORGE!"

"George!" Alanna said, shaking her husband. Her face was bright red –either from shaking him or from George repeatedly slapping her face.

The Baron was still thrashing when he awoke. He was sweating through the sheets, breathing loudly. "George," she repeated.

He finally stopped thrashing when he heard that soothing voice. "Alanna, it's you!" he said, genuine relief in his voice. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, enjoying the lavender scent of her hair. "It's you."

His wife laughed. "Yes, it's me. Why?"

He released her from his hug to study her. There were her startling purple eyes. Those were her fiery red locks. Her familiar stubborn chin. "I thought I'd lost you!" He proceeded to kiss her cheeks, her eyes, and basically every inch of her face.

"Lost me? What're you talking about?" She giggled. "I was worried. You were kicking me and yelling…" George smothered her words with his lips.

He smiled against her lips. "Oh, thank Mithros!" he breathed. He kissed her passionately once more, reveling in the sweet taste of her achingly familiar lips. He broke it and took her into a back-breaking hug. "I love you."

Alanna rubbed comforting circles on his back. "I love you too."

He pulled back to look her directly in the eyes, a mix of worry and affection in his own. "Don't turn into a burnt monster with no eyes." He put a leg around hers, ensuring that she wouldn't be able to leave. He was positive that he would have a peaceful sleep.

It took all of Alanna's discipline not to laugh. Instead, she embraced him and closed her own eyes, wondering what he had meant about a monster with no eyes. But she'd save the question for breakfast time. She felt that this moment wasn't one worth ruining.
