A Portrait, In Ink

Rating: G

Summary: Sakura spent enough time studying her favorite subject that, given time, she could replicate it flawlessly. Also, selfishly – oh, so selfishly.

Word count: 100 words (drabble)

And in the end, after the blood, tears and war, it is Naruto who gets Sasuke, and Sakura is left with Sai. Sakura has matured enough not to be bitter about it - really she has - and Sai... well, Sai is a blank canvas for her to transpose her hopes and dreams onto. It's easy to pretend that it isn't guilt that makes her heart flutter, and stomach flip when she looks at him and is met with a scowl instead of that vapidly empty smile.

Sakura has always known that to get Sasuke, all she needed was a fresh start.

Authors notes:

I'm not trying to bash Sakura. I've just been thinking that I always want everyone to have a happy ending, when really, there's no such thing. Also, as far as I know, Sai is too naïve to know the difference.
