He sat, leaning against the wall, watching her slather on sunscreen.

"How much of that fucking stuff do you really need?" He asked idly as his hand moved slightly up her back, teasing the pale skin.

"Everyone else in my family has had skin cancer. I on the other hand will remain pale and wrinkle free for more then ten years" She smiled, looking back at him. "ANd I hate freckles."

He smiled softly looking at her. "You look kinda cute with them." His hand strokes up, past her shoulders to stroke her hair, its long. He can wrap his fingers into it as he kisses her. He chooses to do so, leaning forward.

"John" She laughs looking up at him.

"Well we have half an hour before you even consider getting up and leaving" He grinned.

"Curse you, you read my sunscreen directions" She laughs, turning over, so he leans over her. She reaches up stroking his hair back, her eyes catching on the diamond in one. She strokes it softly leaning up and kissing his earlobe lightly.

He smiles, sadly and strokes her blonde hair.

This isn't Claire Standish, he doesn't live above a garage any more. He doesn't come into school with bruises. He doesn't even hide them anymore.

Kelly understands a little. She doesn't ask him to pawn the earring even when their electric was turned off. Now they didn't have to worry about that though.

But she understands, its hard to let go of the one who changed your life forever.

Disclaimer: Me no own.

Author's notes: I dunno, just thinking about John's future, the likely hood of them sticking together. And that it wouldn't be bad for him to not be with Claire nessicarily, just that he would have the earring.
