Disclaimer: I don't own Maximum Ride. James Patterson does.

I've never really written a fanpoem before. I didn't really like how it turned out, either. The poem wasn't actually going to be for fanfiction, but I thought it fit okay with the whole humans-with-wings thing. And, just a warning, there was no real point to this, so please don't expect anything great. Onto the poem!

Night Dances

Here are my wings and here is the sky.

Here are the clouds and there are the stars.

The stage is the mountains and the moon is the spotlight,

Shining and glimmering on silvery, silky smooth feathers.

My heart beats in steady time with my wings.

The stillness of the night is only broken be the occational breeze.

And here I am dancing and turning to music that only I can hear.

I'm bouncing and playing on the cusps of the wind.

I'm gliding and twirling on gusts.

My breath forms misty patterns and figures,

While the clouds become a maze of wetness and white.

No one but the trees and their leaves,

Will witness the show I put on tonight.

Though no one is looking I'll keep dancing.

Just because you don't see doesn't mean I'll land.

And though it may not reach you, the message is there.

This flight is for no one and everyone.

This performance is for the birds and the fish alike.

For the heavens above and for darkening fires below.

This time is for you and for me and for home.

For my family that's laughing and playing.

This song is what I leave for you at dawn.

The next time I will come here will be when,

The moonbeams that dance with shadows replace the sun.

Hope you like!
