"Brain!" Alan Powers looked up at the ceiling in annoyance.

"What?"

"Where did my bag go?" His older brother yelled from his room. Brain sighed. His brother may be smart but he was extremely disorganized. Brain walked up the stairs and saw his brother flinging old assignments out from his once neat piles under his bed. "You mean the one Mom is washing?" He sniffled, wiping his nose. Brain hated having colds. Marley, his brother, growled in annoyance.

"Yeah... Dang." The boy got up, shoving the papers under his bed. Brain shot him an incredulous look. "What? I'll clean up later!" Brain sighed again and walked to the stairs.

"Whatever. I'm going back down stairs. Mom said I need to rest until my cold goes..." Brain left his brother to mutter, slightly amused.

Marley stood outside Mr Ratburn' s classroom, shifting his green backup up his shoulders. The door was locked and the light was out. Marley hated having to wait but waited anyway. Afterall, the early bird catches the worm as his mom said. He leant against the door, popping his bubble of gum. "Alan, gum in the bin please." An older voice ridiculed. Marley looked up to see a rat in a green suit. "Actually, sir, my name is Marley. I'm Alan's older twin." The rat looked surprised.

"Oh! I didn't know Alan had a twin. "

"I was attending an academy but my mom and dad thought it was getting too expensive. That and the lessons were boring me."

"Well I hope that you enjoy the year." The rat turned to go.

"Actually, I'm wondering where I can find Mr Ratburn?" The rat laughed.

"That's me, Marley. Come on in. I could use an extra pair of hands."
