She stood on the street, arms crossed in a furtive hug that left her little warmth, little hope, and less comfort in the rainy street, everything grey and monotone and contemporary. Sterile. And her heart was breaking and her emotions swam in a bright sky blue, the confusion and heartache and loneliness compiling into one focal point on the second story, third window to the right, and the dark haired man sitting there, quill scratching furiously on the papers he was writing.
Look at me! God dammit, look at me, pleaseā¦her mental scream breaking down into sobs, the tears ran unnoticed by him, nor the world around her, in the pouring rain, but mostly him. He was all that mattered. Her frizzy mess of hair was bedraggled and her clothes were soaked right through to the skin, hanging off her frame like the shroud of a walking corpse. Her eyes were red, her face was blotchy, and it was suddenly decided on a busy street corner, in the anonymity only a busy crowd can give-
