For Durbe The Barian, for being a great internet friend :)
Pairing/s: None. But implied HolyIceshipping (Durbe x Merag/Rio)
Hopes For The Future
"Wasn't this supposed to be Durbe's job?" Nasch grumbled, as he held the hose high, making sure to water all of his sister's favorite flowers. Merag, to her credit, was busily watering the other side of their giant mansion (why did they need one anyways? Only seven people were staying here and the mansion could easily hold another seven hundred, much less seven) and shot him a look from across the frontyard.
"Dear brother, unless you want your precious clothes to get wet, I would shut up."
He rolled his eyes as he remembered that Durbe had caught the flu for the first time - being human meant human weaknesses too, naturally - and was now in his bedroom, resting as one of them would pay him small visits from time-to-time to check on him. Even Vector, whom they expected to be the same as before, showed signs of caring about Durbe's health. He wasn't all that homocidial anymore either but Nasch was still cautious. A person couldn't change that quickly, after all, despite the influence of a certain 'Kattobingu!' boy.
"Besides, doing this makes me feel more... human." Merag continued. "Durbe was right when he said that this made him feel like he was doing something..."
"Since when were you and Durbe so 'friendly' with each other?" a suspicious Nasch inquired, raising the hose as he had a sword in his past life. Merag shot him a look as she did the same.
"None of your business."
"Oh really?" a purple eyebrow was arched in amusement, the hose slowly being raised. "Shall we do this?"
"You bet, dear Ryoga." the name slipped out of her mouth and she bit her lip. Merag couldn't believe - yet could at the same - how naturally that name came to her. "... shall we?"
Ryoga raised his hose and smirked as it splashed his sister and her clothes, causing her to scream in surprise.
"Indeed we shall... Rio."
"You are so done for!" the newly revived Kamishiro twins raised their hoses higher and began their usual war, laughter and smiles all around as they dodged and counter-attacked, much like when they were doing their sibling squabble duels.
They couldn't change the past. They were Nasch and Merag, king and princess of their beloved kingdom, but they were also Ryoga and Rio, simple humans with friends, school and dueling. The past would remain set in stone but the same can't be applied to their future.
A future filled with family, friendships and last, but certainly not least, peace.
And dueling because the cards, the stories behind them and their element were as much a part of their lives as being siblings was. That was another that would never change.
Something they refused to change. For the sake of their future.
Thanks for reading! :)
