Pairings: DG/Cain and hinted Az/Ambrose
A/N: This lullabye comes from the movie War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.
"Alright now Amayria, time to go to sleep…" Cain said softly to his 9 month old daughter as her dressed her in her nightdress and placed her gently in her bassinette next to DG's side of the bed in the Queens bedchambers. DG planted a kiss on Amayria's forehead and pushed a strand of her shiny blonde hair out of her daughters piercing blue eyes. As Amayria yawned, her eyes began to close and her two loving parents climbed into bed
2 hours later
DG was walking up and down the length of her chamber, singing every lullabye under the suns. She had sung all the lullabye's she knew, OZian ones and Other Side ones, to try and get her daughter back to sleep…all to no avail. An hour beforehand Amayria had woken up crying her little lungs out, and now, even though the crying had ceased (which was a relief to more ears in the palace than just her parents), she would not go back to sleep, and when placed back into her bassinette, she started crying again.
Cain walked over to where his wife was pacing. DG looked at him and said, "I think it's time for Hushabye Mountain…" Hushabye Mountain was a lullabye the pair kept for times like these and only used it when all else failed, because it was slightly enchanted. It was a "gift" from Az and Ambrose when Amayria was born. "For the worst times," they had said. It was a very handy thing to have, just in case, and DG and Cain, only used for the times, when they thought they couldn't bear it anymore, as suggested upon receiving the gift.
"Alright," said Cain, clearing his throat and the two started to softly sing to their darling daughter,
"A gentle breeze,
On Hushabye Mountain,
Softly blows
Over Lullabye Bay.
It fills the sails,
Of boats that are waiting,
Waiting to sail,
Your worries away.
So close your eyes on,
Hushabye Mountain.
Wave goodbye,
To cares of the day,
And watch your boat from,
Hushabye Mountain,
Sail far away from
Lullabye Bay…"
And with that, the tiny princess drifted off to a peaceful nights sleep, filled with dreams of boats at Hushabye Mountain, amongst all her other favourite things. As her mother slowly replaced Amayria into her bassinette, she sighed contentedly, and was wrapped in her fluffy pink blanket by loving arms. Each proud parent placed a gentle kiss on one of her cheeks, As the Queen of the OZ climbed into bed with her Tin Man, she thought about how blessed she was to have a family as she did.
