A tiny hand clutched at his ragged cloak.
He lifted the cloack back slightly, revealing the little boy sleeping soundly in his arms.
His beetle-black eyes softened as they traced over the lightning shaped scar on his forehead.
This little boy had no idea.
No idea that everything he had had had been ripped away from him.
In a single moment.
This poor little boy would have to face so much,
He knew.
He would have to remember the past.
Live in the present.
But look forward to the future.
He would have to remember everything.
He sighed softly, letting the cloak gently fall over the baby boy again.
He shifted slightly, gurgling something babyish in his deep slumber.
A soft smile touched the bearded lips as he looked down on Lily and James's son.
His parents had been so brave.
And soon, very, very soon, this little boy would have to be brave too.
Could he handle it?
Could he live through the horrible trials he would have to endure?
At that moment, flying over England in a motercycle, Rubeus Hagrid made a promise.
To himself, and to the little child fast asleep in his arms.
He would do his best to protect him.
Whether that meant fighting for him to the death,
Or giving him what little knowledge he had.
But he would do it.
He would do anything for this little child.
"Poor liddle thing."
"Well, some say he died. Codswallop in my opinion. Nope, I reckon he's still out there, too tired to carry on. But one thing's certain, something about you stumped him that night. That's why you're famous, Harry, that's why everybody knows your name. You're the boy who lived."
Everything for this little child.
Hagrid looked out, over the brightly shining lights of the houses beneath him.
His usually soft black eyes hardened.
To Harry Potter.
He would give his life for him.

I just really wanted to show the sort of loyalty and love Hagrid really had for Harry...I mean, I've NEVER read a fic on Hagrid, esp. one about this time in his life...so, I thought I might as well be the one to write it!!
