She stood on her balcony looking out over Hyrule. She looked down at Castle Town and watched the party that was happening down there. The soldiers had come home from some battle. She sighed and went inside.

He was not back. She hadn't heard any news from him and she didn't want to talk to any of the soldiers. They were happy and probably drunk.

She sat down at her vanity and stared at her reflection. Her father would be mad if he found out she was so upset over a boy not returning from battle. But he wasn't just any boy he was a hero, the Hero that all the prophecies talked about; the one who saved Hyrule.

"Milady." She turned to see her maid standing at the door. "Milady, your father would like to talk to you." She stood up and left her room. Her father was in the study, she knew because he'd been living in his study for days now.

"Zelda, my darling. Why are you not out welcoming home the soldiers?"

"Father you know why."

"That one boy hasn't returned? What a shame. Anyway, he's just another boy. There are much more out there."

"Father, he's not 'just a boy' he's the hero that saved Hyrule. He can't you just treat him like a hero?" Anger weld up inside of her, her father just didn't understand what was so special about him.

"Anyway, I want you to greet the soldiers that are returning home."

"Fine." Zelda turned and left her father's study. She left the castle and went into Castle Town. Cheering came when she entered. Zelda put on her best smile and waved at everyone. She greeted returning soldiers and shook their hands. There were so many people in the town square she worried that she might not see him.

Eventually the excitement died down. Zelda returned to the castle and sat in the gardens for a while. They met months ago. At the time Twilight covered the castle and Castle Town. He was turned into a wolf and an imp named Midna rode on his back. Zelda hadn't really seen his true form until the battle with Ganon.

At first she had no interest in him. Zelda also thought he liked Midna. But once Midna returned to the Twilight and shattered the mirror that connected the two worlds she gained a little interest in him.

He returned to his home but he came back. Her father acknowledged him as the savior of Hyrule but did nothing else. Zelda began to meet him in secret. And they, well she, fell in love.

Zelda was never sure if he loved her back. And if he didn't return she never would. A tear started to roll down her face but she wiped it away.

No, she thought. Princesses don't cry. The moon began to rise high in the night but Zelda just stood there on her balcony. She would wait for him. He had to come home.

Buildings began turning off their lights and closing down for the night. Castle Town was dark and quiet, which it rarely was.

Zelda held her post looking out at the dark fields. Waiting to see him riding on his horse Epona.

Eventually, a maid came and got her to prepare for bed. Zelda began to undress when she heard a horse walking on the stone town square. She ran to her balcony and saw him there looking around at the dark Castle Town.

She bolted out of her bedroom and ran down the stairs. She pushed through guards trying to get her to stop from going out at such a late hour.

She ran out of Hyrule Castle and into the town square and into his arms.

"Link! Where were you?"

"I'm sorry my princess. I got held up."

"Silly, you can call my Zelda. I've missed you so much."

"I wouldn't die without seeing you again."

"Silly, what if you died on the battlefield?"

"Then I'd picture you before I died." He was so sweet. She held him close. He lifted up her chin and kissed her. "I love you, Princess Zelda."

"I love you too, Link."

Aww… So sweet. It's about time I wrote a story for Legend of Zelda. I mean it goes with my name! Gosh. Thanks for reading! Hope you liked it!!
