Kurt had spent hours picking out the perfect outfit to wear for tonight. Rachel and Santana were meeting him there. They had forced him to go even though he detested even the idea of his night to come. He left his apartment in Bushwick at around 9pm, having calculated how long it would take to get there, taking into account the traffic, blocked roads and the crowds. Why he agreed to go, god only knew.
When he reached his station on the subway he hopped off gracefully. His heart sank further every step he took closer. Kurt checked his watch. 11:57. Perfect timing. He made his way towards the agreed place, by the big hat stall and soon saw Rachel jumping up and down excitedly, and even Santana, who was always moody, was smiling and laughing. Upon his arrival, Rachel squealed with delight and enveloped him in a big hug. "You came!" she exclaimed, Kurt had to shout to be heard, "of course I came silly!" Their gaze was directed upwards at the shiny ball which had begun its descent as the crowd chanted, 10! 9! 8! 7! 6! Rachel had already been whisked away by a tall man in a checked shirt. 3! 2! Kurt sighed, maybe next year. The next one second completely changed his life...
"Excuse me?" Kurt felt a light tap on his shoulder. He hastily swirled around only to be met by the most beautiful face he had ever seen. Large honey eyes which resembled those of a puppy looked into his, olive skin was lit up by the numerous colours from the fireworks, and then his lips, oh those lips. Kurt barely heard the crowd cheering wildly. The short man started to turn away, "I, I'm sorry, I can't, just aghhh never mind me! Sorry to disturb you." He turned away but Kurt pulled him back, "I have 3 options here: 1)accept the fact that you are taken and/or not gay 2) wish you a happy new year or 3) hope that you are single, gay and willing to get to know each other." The man grinned widely. "Hmm..." he said "I think I'll go with...3!" Kurt grinned. This amazing person asked, "Can I have your number?" Kurt very willingly handed over his phone as the black-haired man exchanged numbers. "I'll call you!" Kurt jumped slightly, "great! Wait! I didn't get your name." "Blaine." "Kurt." The man walked away, glancing back smiling every few seconds. Kurt turned around smiling dubiously to find Rachel and Santana staring open-mouthed at him. He shrugged, still grinning. Well maybe it wasn't such a bad New Years after all
