*Midoriya's P.O.V*
"H-Help me..."
"I-I need someone... I need an angel"
...
...
Huh? What was that? That dream... it felt so... real.
If it is real... then that girl... she's in trouble! But how can I find her? I don't even know where she li-
...
...
Aichi Prefecture? An orphanage? ... I know where that is.
I walked over to the window and opened it... Okay Izuku, you can do this. Glide until you feel like you're going to hit the ground, then flap. Easy... right?
N-No time to think, I gotta go save her. I prepared myself, and jumped out of the window, I then began flying with my wings to Aichi Prefecture.
Please don't let it be to late...
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*
*TAP!*
She's waking up... she has turned to face me... her eyes widened, she then rubbed them, then she opened the door, "A-An angel?" She asked.
"W-Well no, I'm not an angel. But... oh this is going to sound weird." I muttered.
"What?" She asked.
"W-Well, I saw you crying and praying in a dream. I heard 'H-Help me...' and 'I-I need someone... I need an angel'. I didn't know if it was real, but it felt so real and I was worried... then suddenly, your location was flashing in my head." I said.
"Y-You are an angel!" She exclaimed in a whisper, "I-I was praying... because I hate it here." I then flew inside and sat next to her on her bed... her lumpy bed. "I-I just want to leave, leave and never come back here... I was hoping an Angel would come to take me away, like in the books... but it didn't happen." She said, as she started crying.
I got behind her to give her a hug, my wings hugging her too.
"So... warm." She said, "You are an angel."
"But I'm not an Angel, it's my Quirk." I said, I feel my cheeks blushing, "I have these wings so I can fly with them."
But she shook her head, "No, you're an Angel."
I was going to say something, but she was happy... so I'm happy. "So... what's your name?" I asked.
...
...
"Reiko, Reiko Yanagi." She said.
"I'm Izuku Midoriya." I said back.
"Let's be friends!" Reiko said.
"I thought we are already friends." I said back.
She didn't say anything, but she felt happy, "So... what do you want to do when you grow up?" I asked.
"I wanna be a hero." She said.
"So do I!" I exclaimed, "We should be heroes together!"
"Yeah... we should." She said.
"But what's your Quirk?" I asked.
...
...
"Don't laugh." She said.
"Why?" I asked.
"My Quirk... lets me control things close to me..." She said as she brought a water bottle close to her to drink, "See? Nothing impo-"
"That's so cool!" I exclaimed.
"R-Really?" She asked.
"Yeah, you can do a lot of cool stuff with it. You can... you can... bring stuff close to you, you can send stuff to people, and... and lots of things." I said.
"Y-You really think so?" She asked, "Most boys here think it's lame."
"It's far from lame. It's cool!" I exclaimed, "You can do so much more with it than some Quirk that makes you super strong. And plus, you can be super strong and have your Quirk too. The boys don't know how awesome your Quirk is."
...
...
*Sniff*
"A-Are you okay?" I asked scared that she might be hurt.
"N-No... thank you." She said with a crying smile.
Wait... idea, "You said you wanted to leave right?" I asked.
"Y-Yeah?" She asked.
"Well... I can take you home with me." I said with a smile.
"W-Wait what?" Reiko asked.
"Yeah! You can come with me and Mom, and we can become heroes together! Isn't that great?" I asked.
"W-Will she take me?" She asked.
"Yeah! My Mom is super nice! She can let you stay." I said as I pulled away, "Here, get on my back, we'll go right now."
"R-Right now?" She asked.
"Yeah? Why... do you not want to go right now?" I asked.
...
...
"Y-Yes, let's go."
"So let me get this straight..." Mom said, "You had a dream, that a girl was praying for an angel to rescue her from her bad orphanage, not only that but saw said girl's location in your head. Then you flew over to get her, and bring her back here to ask me if we can let her stay with us?"
...
...
"Yes. So can she?" I begged.
"I-I can go back to the orphanage if it's too much trouble-"
"Nonsense. You said it yourself that your orphanage was terrible to you." Mom said, "We'll let you stay... but we're doing it the right way tomorrow."
"S-So she can stay?!" I asked.
"Yes Izuku, she can stay." Mom said.
"REIKO YOU CAN STAY!" I yelled as I hugged her and jumped up and down.
"KEEP IT DOWN UP THERE! IT'S 3 IN THE MORNING!" The downstairs neighbor yelled.
"S-Sorry!" I yelled downwards.
My mom sighed, "Why do six year olds have to be such big balls of energy?" She asked herself, "So, we don't have a spare bed for you yet-"
"I can sleep on the couch-"
"Nonsense." She said again, "If what Izuku told me is true, then you need an actually decent bed for a change. Izuku will sleep on the couch."
"I'll get a blanket." I said as I pulled out an All Might blanket Mom kept in the closet.
"Well great, we'll head over to the orphanage tomorrow... it might be a bit awkward walking in with you, but it should be fine." She said, "Anyway, I'm going back to bed... and you two should too, it's late." Mom said before going to her room.
...
...
"Well, see you tomorrow!" I said as I walked over to the couch, it took a little bit, but I heard little steps go to my room. Tomorrow will be the day.
The day Reiko gets to stay with us.
"So let me get this straight." The receptionist said, "Your son, had a dream about her, he flew here, then took her away for the night. You then brought her BACK here to adopt her?"
"... Sounds about right." Mom said.
...
...
"Okay? Let me get the papers." She said as she dug into the drawer, "Reiko Yanagi. Okay, sign here, here and here."
After Mom signed the papers we headed back home... the train ride was 2 hours long... but we don't have to go there anymore, so... yay! Once we got home Mom said that we would go out to buy things Reiko would need tomorrow... like another bed and stuff. But today, Reiko and I just talked about random stuff. Our favorite colors, our favorite heroes, our favorite everythings. Then I asked a really big question.
"What do you want our hero team name to be?" I asked.
"H-Hero team name?" She asked back.
"Yeah! You said you wanted to be a hero, I said I wanted to be a hero, so let's be a hero team." I said... "Do you not want to?"
"N-No I want to." Reiko said, "How about... Team: Supernatural."
"I like it! I don't know what that means, but I like it!" I exclaimed.
Reiko laughed, "Okay, as of today."
"We are Team Supernatural."
*8 years later*
(A/N: I apologize if the chapter up to this point makes zero sense... as a 19 year old, it's hard to recreate how 6 year olds talk. But I feel like I did an okay job.)
"The three pointer!" I yelled, "She got it!"
We've been training to become heroes ever since Reiko started living with us. We started small, then grew into more difficult workouts. However, we always reserve Sundays... for Basketball. We've been playing for so long that we've made a name for ourselves... a pair of people you do not want to play against. No really, there's a sign on the pole of the hoop, it says 'If a green haired boy and a white haired girl are playing... don't. They're too good'. It's flattering, if a little saddening.
"Excuse me." A voice said, Reiko made another three pointer before we turned to the source of the voice... a skinny blonde haired man.
"Hello, can we help you sir?" I asked as I grabbed the ball.
"Yes, may I play with you?" He asked, "It's been a while since I played basketball."
Reiko and I shared a look, "Sure." I said as I passed the ball to the man.
He... was good. Even with two of us, we barely beat him. "Not bad you two. I actually had to try." He said as he extended his hand, "Toshinori Yagi."
"Izuku Midoriya." I said shaking his hand.
"Reiko Yanagi." Reiko said shaking his hand as well.
"Well basketball is always a good way to get the blood pumping, but I should be going. Thank you for playing with me." He said before leaving.
"Anytime!" I called out as he left. "Man... he was really good."
"He was... but he was fun to play against." She said.
"Yeah... he was." I said as I smelled my underarms, "But man... that caused a sweat." I said.
"I'll say... let's go home." Reiko said.
"Yeah, first on the shower!" I said.
"You got it first yesterday, it's my turn!"
"I still can't believe you didn't fight back against that boy..." Reiko said.
"Well it's not like I can use my Quirk against him." I said as I rubbed my burn wound, "As far as he knows, it's only a pair of wings I can fly with."
"He does..." She muttered.
"Then what would that make me?" I asked, "I would be just like him if I stooped to his level... besides, Mom said I shouldn't use my Quirk unless absolutely necessary, you know what would happen if that. Fell into the wrong hands." I said pointing to the feather on her head.
"I know I know..." She said, "But what about the Entrance Exam? You're going to have to use your Quirk then."
"Hmm... you're right. Well looks like I'll have to find another way to pass... or I can just go through the General Course and figure out the way to get into the Hero Course." I said.
"I would prefer you don't take the extra step." She muttered.
"Well, it's not really my call. But we will be going to U.A together, we are Team: Supernatural right?" I asked extending my fist towards her.
She laughed, "Yes, Team: Supernatural." She said returning my fist bump.
Then... something smells.
*PLOOP*
I turned back to see a giant pile of green sludge pop out of the sewer, "Medium sized bodies to hide in!"
"Reiko get back!" I yelled as I got ready to fight with my Quirk... if the guy who sees goes to jail, then it doesn't matter if I use it. I was getting ready to utilize my Quirk.
But then, the manhole cover blew out from the ground, "Fear not kids!"
The slime villain turned to see All Might.
"For I AM HERE!" He yelled.
"All Might!" The slime villain yelled.
"TEXAS SMASH!" He yelled unleashing a giant shockwave to splatter the villain. I quickly turned off my Quirk causing the club to disappear.
"Are you two alright?" All Might asked.
"Y-Yeah..." I said trying to not succumb to fanboying, "You okay Reiko?"
"Yeah... I'm good." She said.
"Good, as for my success is thanks to you two! For I have captured the evil doer!" All Might yelled holding out the sludge villain in two empty soda bottles, "Now I must bring this fellow to the authorities! You can catch me on T.V!" He yelled before launching away.
...
...
"Did he just jump away? With the villain in his loose pocket?" I asked.
"Yes... yes he did." Reiko said.
"Should we be concerned?" I asked.
"Yes... yes we should."
We followed the direction All Might was flying... but he landed onto a building. Once we got there a massive explosion was heard in the distance. We rushed over there to see Bakugou trapped by the slime villain. As every hero is standing by twiddling their thumbs.
"I'll go help!" Reiko yelled as she rushed into the danger.
"Reiko! Wait!" I yelled as I turned to see a lot of people... but Reiko is sending various items towards the slime villain. Dah forget my secret! Reiko has higher priorit-
*FWOOSH*
"A HERO... SHOULD ALWAYS BE READY TO RISK THEIR LIFE!" All Might yelled as he rushed towards the slime villain, "TEXAS SMASH!"
The force of the punch caused a cyclone, and as such... rain started to lightly drop.
"He changed the weather... with a single punch!" One guy exclaimed.
"Amazing. That's... All Might!" Another one said.
After the slime villain splattered all over the ground and walls, the pros gathered the remains. After that was done Bakugou was getting a bunch of praise from other heroes... while Reiko was getting yelled at.
"There was absolutely no reason for you to put yourself in danger like that!" He yelled.
"Well maybe if you all did something then she wouldn't have to jump in." I said.
"What did you say?" Death Arms asked.
"I'm saying, if you did your job, and I don't know, SAVED HIM! Then maybe she wouldn't have had to rush in like the hero she is." I said, "She has the instincts to be a hero. Something you all CLEARLY don't have. So shut your mouths, and show some respect."
"You litt-"
"He is right." We all turned to see All Might placing a hand on Reiko's shoulder, "While what she did was reckless, she has the instincts and drive to be a hero." He said with a thumbs up, "But promise me that you'll leave heroism to the pros, as you work hard to be a pro yourself."
"Y-Yes sir." Reiko said.
All Might nodded and leaped away. I just got praised by All Might.
Wow...
*Yanagi's P.O.V*
Izuku and I headed home, "I still cannot believe you, of all people, scoulded those pro heroes."
"Well yeah, if I was locked in a building hand had to choose between those pros and you, then I'd chose you in a heart beat. Besides, you acted like a hero." Izuku said, "Though I would appreciate it if you told me that you were going to do that next time..."
Always looking out for me.
"R-Right." She said.
"You..." We turned to see Bakugou panting heavily before trembling with anger, this should be fun... "Listen... I would never ask for a weakling like you to help me. Don't think you can look down on me! Huh?! Got that?! I was fine by myself! You're just a failure with a useless Quirk! You didn't help me! You did nothing... don't forget it." He said before storming away.
...
...
"I think that was him saying thank you." Izuku said.
"That's about as good as I'm going to get from him." I replied.
"I AM HERE!"
We turned instantly to see All Might in our neighborhood.
"A-All Might? What are you doing here?!" Izuku asked.
"And how did you get rid of all of those reporters?" I asked.
"HAHAHAHAH! I stand for justice! No sound bytes! Because I am All MI- PLAAGH!"
...
...
"Oh, it's you!" Izuku exclaimed, "You're the basketball guy from yesterday."
"That's what you point out?" I asked.
Toshinori wheezed into his hand and wiped the blood away, "Anyway... I am All Might, but before I explain that, I would like to thank you." He said to me, "While you didn't see me I was there on the sidelines. Hoping someone would take down the villain I failed to apprehend. But you rushed in anyway. It inspired me to take action."
"But I don't understand why you needed to thank me. You were the one who ultimately defeated the villain." I said.
"Because it's like what Young Midoriya said, you showed a courage no one showed. No one, not even the heroes rushed in like you did." He said, "Which is why... I believe you are the perfect candidate to be my successor."
...
...
"I'm sorry what?" I asked.
"And should I not be here for this? I feel like this is something super ultra secret." Izuku said.
"So long she trusts you, then it is fine." All Might said.
"Which I do." I said.
"Okay then." Izuku said.
"Anyway, I believe you are the perfect candidate to inherit my power." All Might said.
...
...
"Inherit your... what?" I asked.
"BAHAHAHA! You should see your face right now! Don't worry, I'm not going to force this thing on you..." He said as he stepped closer to me, "Now listen well young lady, this is your choice... DO YOU WANT TO ACCEPT MY AWESOME POWER OR NOT- PLAGH!"
Izuku had this uncomfortable look on his face, as he wiped the blood off of his face.
"S-Sorry about that." He apologized.
"H-Huh? What is this?" I asked as he wiped the blood off of his mouth.
"There are a couple things you should know about my abilities." He said as he began to explain his power. One for All, a crystaline power network that has been passed down through generations. He is the eighth and he wants me to be the ninth.
"B-But are you certain I am the proper candidate? I believe Izuku is be-"
"But I don't want it." Izuku said.
"H-Huh?" I asked.
"Even if he offered it to me, I wouldn't take it and instead suggested you take it." Izuku said, "And besides, you always go on and on about how your Quirk isn't suited for a fight. So here you go."
"But like I said, this is ultimately your choice." All Might said.
...
...
Izuku, Ms. Midoriya, and now All Might believe in me. I can't back down now.
"I-I accept." I said as All Might smiled.
"A quick answer... I expect nothing less."
Two days later... I learned that inheriting All Might's power... wasn't as easy as I expected. While I did build quite a but of muscle from Izuku and I's workouts, All Might said to be absolutely sure I won't blow my arms and legs off, that I should clean the whole Dagobah Municipal Beach Park. Along with a workout plan designed around my body type. Joy...
"Don't worry Reiko, I'll be here for moral support." Izuku said.
"So you're not doing this with me?" I asked.
"No, this is your training for your power." Izuku replied, "If I join in, then you'll only get half the work, and then your arms and legs will blow off. So I'll just train on my own."
Okay... I can do this!
... And so begin my 10 month stay on the 4th circle of hell. Hauling garbage after garbage. Workouts that put ours to shame. But Izuku was there to not only do the workouts at home with me, but also make sure I stick to the schedule to the letter. And as such, the 10 months went by, and the beach was spotless.
"Holy... stinking... SUPER CRAP!" All Might yelled as he stood beside me, "You did it. You exceded my expectations. Excellent work... you are ready. You are a true vessel now!" He yelled before plucking off a piece of hair, "Someone told me this once. There is a difference between being lucky and deserving. One's an accident another a reward, never get the two confused." He said, "Take that to heart, this gift... you earned it with your own two hands and your valiant effort."
I nodded and reached out for the hair, "Now, eat this."
...
...
I pulled my hand away, "Sorry, say that again?"
"To inherit my powers you have to swallow some of my D.N.A that's how it works!" All Might said.
"That's something you should have mentioned before!" I yelled.
"Come on you'll be late for the exam! Eat! Eat!" He yelled.
I swallowed both my fear and the hair... I can taste the high brand hair products.
"Anyway the hair should digest in a few hours, more than enough time for you to go home, take a shower, and head for the exam! Now go!"
"So the entrance exam is beating up a bunch of robots..." Izuku muttered, "The harder the enemy, the more points you get. So the 2 pointers are the best be-"
"And you, with the unkempt hair." The blue haired boy said pointing to Izuku, "You've been muttering this whole time... it's distracting. If this is some sort of game to you, then please leave immediately."
Everyone started giggling at Izuku.
"Let them go Izuku, they don't know your true power." I whispered.
"I know... he's just all talk. Probably from a rich or hero family... or both." He said, "Always look down on us lower middle class folk. Anyway, we're going to be in different areas, but mine is Area C right next to yours. If I even feel something is wrong I'll come over, k?"
"That would leave you with a disqualification." I replied.
"Worth it..."
Okay, I have about 10 points. I can't use One for All yet, so I'm using my Quirk, Poltergeist, to guide rocks onto the button on the back of the robot. But that isn't enough, I need more poi-
*BOOOM*
I turned to see a gigantic 0 pointer moving towards us. Everyone is running away from the robot... I should follow sui-
"OW!"
I turned to see... a girl, under rubble. The 0 pointer is moving towards her...
I have to help.
*Midoriya's P.O.V*
"GAH!" I yelled as I felt a massive stinging sensation in my legs... and now my arm.
Reiko!
I struggled to move past the pain. Even if it results in a D.Q, Reiko is in danger! I ripped off my jacket and let my wings out, and then... I took off.
Come on... faster! I have to get to Area B. There!
"HAAAH!" I dove down to catch her. I narrowly caught her before she hit the ground, I skidded on the ground, a streak of destruction in my wake. "Reiko? Are you okay?!"
"I-I think everything is broken..." She muttered.
I gently set her down. I went through all three of my Health Recovery Level Twos on her. "I used my Health Recoveries on you."
"T-thank you." She muttered as she sat up wincing in pain.
"Y-You... what was that?" The blue haired boy asked.
"That's something you don't need to know." I said simply. I can't let people know the innerworkings of my Quirk, Mom warned me the dangers of it. So unless I absolutely have to, I won't use it.
"W-What do you mean?" He asked.
"I mean... you don't need to know." I said as he gave me a look of diesbelief.
"Oh dear... well, that boy did well to heal you somewhat." Oh it's Recovery Girl! No... fanboy later. She kissed Reiko on the forehead and her legs and arms fully healed.
Reiko then stood up, "T-Thanks for saving me Izuku." She said.
"Of course. We can't have Team: Supernatural, if it's one person." I said.
She laughed, "You're right."
"... Now can you put on a shirt?"
A week passed, and our scores arrived. Reiko made it to Class 1-A, and I... landed in the General Course.
"Sorry Izuku..." Reiko muttered.
"Ehh, don't worry about it. You made it, that's all that matters." I said, "And besides... I'll figure out a way to get into the hero course, like I said I would 10 months ago. And besides... we're still Team: Supernatural. Our origin story just has an extra arc."
She laughed, "Just get in as fast as you can."
I nodded with a smile.
"I will.
The orientation is telling us what we are expected to do in U.A, and what we expect to get out of U.A. So stuff we already know. We give our best, we get the instruction to become amazing heroes to protect our country and the world.
Well... I might as well ponder, since this speech isn't important.
Hmm... Reiko's Quirk leaves her heavily injured... how did it work again? So much power that she couldn't handle it. So how can she use it without hurting herself... I got it. Just think phy-
"Ngh..."
"What's wrong?" A student next to me asked... which got everyone's attention.
"N-Nothing... I gotta go." I said as I sped out of the building. Reiko is in trouble... but it wasn't my arms or legs... it was my head, she's mentally distressed.
Where is she- There she is! I rushed over to her.
*Fwip* *Fwip*
I stood in front of her and caught the scarf that was flying towards her. "I would appreciate it if you didn't use these against her."
"I-Izuku? What are you doing here?" Reiko asked.
I swiftly tied up the scarf before tapping my head. She figured out what I meant my that. "So what seems to be the problem here?"
"She was about to get her ass expelled." Bakugou said... oh great he made it in... and is in her class, even better.
"Is that so?" I asked before looking at her teacher, "And any reason why you're expelling people on the first day?" I asked.
"How I teach my class is of no concern to you." He said struggling to untangle his scarf, "But she has no potential her Quirk destroys her body... she has no place here."
"No potential?! Based off what facts?!" I snapped, "You saw her in action ONE TIME! And what? These Junior High exercises clearly spell out what being a hero is all about, throwing a ball, running 50 meters, sit ups. Oh thank you for saving my son in a burning building, or saving a person from drowning, or anything else! Your criteria for judging potential is as blind as you make yourself with your Quirk Eraser Head."
"How dare you-"
"He has a point, Mr. Aizawa." We turned to see Principal Nezu being carried by Mr. King, "However, interrupting his class is a bad thing to do. But, if you can help her be better... than I'll let it slide."
"Well that was the reason why I'm here in the first place." I said as I stood in front of Eraserhead, "Now Reiko... think, Physics." I said.
...
...
"Physics?" She asked.
"Specifically pressure. Pressure is force per unit area. So if you exert so much force in a small area...?"
"Pressure will be greater in that area." Reiko said... then her eyes widened, "So I should exert the force in a larger area..."
"Ding ding ding!" I exclaimed, "So... exert that force all throughout your body, head, arms, legs, torso, toes, fingers everywhere. But don't over do it. If full power hurts your body, then tone it down, keep it comfortable."
She nodded and started using her power... this time all throughout her body. White sparks was flickering throughout her body, and I have never been more proud, "Now." I said throwing the ball to her, "Try it now."
She nodded and pulled back, her ball flew far and landed at 300 meters. "Still not the best score though-"
"Hush, now... give me a firm estimate, how much of your power are you using right now?" I asked.
"A-About 8 percent." She said.
"8 percent?!" Everyone asked.
"Which leads to my point." I said looking at Mr. Aizawa, "Tests like these don't gague a student's potential. Because unlike Reiko, I'm certain most if not all of these students have plateaued with their Quirks. As for her, she's on the rise. But how will she reach that power... if the teacher won't teach her based on a small test?"
Eraserhead glared at me... before sighing, "Whatever, so she has a little potential."
"But why did you interrupt? He wasn't going to expel us." I turned to see a girl with a black ponytail, Momo Yaoyorozu. The daughter of the owners of the 'Yaoyorozu Industry'.
"Momo Yaoyorozu. One of the students who got in on recommendations. For someone with that illustirous award, you're not very bright." I said.
"Excuse me-"
"Mr. Aizawa has expelled a record 99 students in his tenure. As of right now there is no Class 2-A because he expelled them all. So if you believe that he won't expel you, then my statement has some truth to it." I said before walking up to him, "So let me ask you this, did you expel those students because you were lazy, or did you just not give a da-"
"Izuku!" I turned to see Reiko looking upset, "Stand down, you already proved your point."
...
...
"Fine." I said as I walked towards Principal Nezu to bow, "Sorry for rushing out of the orientation Principal."
"Oh it's not a problem. I'd say this was worth the interruption. But do it again and I might have to resort to action." Principal Nezu warned.
"Then I better not have a reason to interrupt." I said as I shot 1-A a look before walking off.
I'm rarely that upset... but I take my role as Reiko's Angel very seriously.
*End of Chapter*
(A/N: So I know I said that I wouldn't go back to the canon... and I won't. I'm only following the canon for this and 2-3 more chapters after this. Mainly because I wanted an excuse to give Yanagi One for All just because no one has done it before and I wanna be original. Anyway I will follow the canon for the chapters mentioned above... then I'm doing this my way. This... will be fun. Oh, and before I go. The reason I believe Izuku would be more snarky is that he has someone to growup with as a friend. Which is way different than growing up alone with your mother. And I think that Reiko would open up more with Izuku next to her, so as such she would show off her true personality. Which I believe is to be serious, analytical, and snarky. Perfect. Anyway carry on.)
