When Steven was born the Crystal Gems fractured. Rose was literally being a baby about the whole thing, so she was no help. Greg was the coolest about everything, the only one other than me who kept their chill. Although he probably didn't have any idea why Garnet and Pearl were freaking out either.
When Pearl first saw first saw Steven she clamped down on her mouth hard with her hands. It looked like she was trying to push her head right off, it was hilarious! The tears less so. They just poured out of her face while she stared at Mini-Rose. Gurgling behind her hands, eyes wide and shining she just stood there.
Garnet exploded, almost literally too I bet. I've never seen her so angry before. She was screaming at Mini-Rose, about how Rose lied to everyone and sacrificed everything for a pointless war. She even had her gauntlets out and everything!
I think Greg almost bolted right then. He was sort of covering Steven with his meaty body, slowly edging away.
That must have been enough to shock Pearl out of her Pearl-freak-out. She rushed between Garnet and Greg. Or rather Garnet and Mini-Rose. Arms out as if there wasn't a whole room separating them already. I mean dramatic much?
Still it worked, so I guess I have to give Pearl that. Garnet actually backed down, well it was more like she just pointed her fury at Pearl instead. Apparently, Pearl knew something about Mini-Rose? Whatever it was when Pearl admitted it, Garnet got real shaky. She stumbled back, lit up and almost split apart like three times! When she got a hold of her selves she stormed out. Pearl followed begging Garnet to understand.
Having left a sweaty Greg, Rose and myself in the base. I decided to stick with "Steven". I'd probably find out what the problem was when everyone calmed down. It's not like I wasn't used to playing second fiddle. Besides I had thought looking at them, I really liked their diamond eyes.
