Marlo and Marlon
He was not like most Hutt crime bosses in the galaxy were. Well, okay, Marlo the Hutt wasn't entirely unlike them. He invested in criminal activities, he enjoyed indulging in seedy entertainment, and he had executed his pair share of traitors and troublemakers in his time. But what set him apart from other Hutts was his moral approach to organized crime.
Marlo was a Hutt who always took the less direct approach in solving a problem in his family. He preferred to use violence only as a last resort, attempting to get through to his clients, mercenaries and bounty hunters, as well as their intended victims, by reasoning with them. "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse," he was fond of saying. Marlo was very loyal to his friends and allies, but would turn on them if betrayed. He loved his family, too, Sonnie, Freedo, Micey, and Conarla, and cared about them so much he would do anything to protect them. He was reminiscent of a famous gangster named Don Vito Corleone, in fact, because they had so much in common with each other. Vito was loyal to his allies, too, but would gladly kill them if they betrayed him, and he loved his family, too, Sonny, Fredo, Michael, and Connie. Marlo was grief-stricken when Weequay pirates gunned down Sonnie. So was Vito when Sonny was shot on the Jones Beach Causeway.
Biological neighbors and men of honor were both considered family by both Vito and Marlo. Vito was smart and logical, and Marlo was pragmatic and cunning. Vito always knew when to take a deal or not, and how to go about doing so. Marlo, in turn, knew about how to take deals, and he believed in finding peaceful compromises when possible. Besides having the foresight of a master chess player, Vito and Marlo actually did play chess with their rivals and enemies; they both used reason and used violence as a last resort, and Vito could predict the ramifications and possible opportunities from random events in advance. Marlo was himself able to predict the dangers and benefits of a profitable business venture, and use his pragmatism to help his family and himself come out on top.
Finally, they wanted to move their business ventures into legitimate business eventually, and were great advisors to Micey and Michael, respectively. Vito wanted his family to move away from business involving drugs and gun-fighting after he died, and Marlo hoped to control legitimate businesses like retail stores, hotels, uncorrupt casinos, restaurants, and companies that made neon billboards and advertisements for commercial things.
Yes, Vito and Marlo, two benevolent godfathers, loving their families and loyal workers while desiring to get out of the criminal operations their kinds usually preferred to indulge in. One cannot fail to notice that they even look similar, with Vito having a pencil-thin mustache and slicked back hair, while Marlo had a Sha'rellian toop living on his head as hair and a penciled-on mustache.
It makes one wonder if they somehow knew of each other's existence across dimensions…
