Authors Note: Hey everyone who is still reading this story, its me, the author who is almost never around. I'm sorry that I pretty much abandoned this story, I didn't like how it was turning out and decided to take a very long break and think about things. Then some pretty heavy stuff came up and I didn't have time for anything in my life. Now hopefully I can return to this story, and I will be revamping all of the chapters to ones that I can accept more, so it may be a while between each update, just know that I haven't forgot about this story, and I am determined to finish it.
So sorry for all of the bumps in the road

Chapter 1
The shrill sound from my alarm startled me from my sleep, I shot up and looked around before realizing what was going on and slammed my alarm off. I slipped out of bed and stumbled to the window to throw open the shades and let the cloudy light pour into the room. Even the sun did not want to see my death today. Today was the day that I would find out whether or not my body could handle the change from human to hunter. An answer I already knew, I was the weakest one in my group, the clumsiest one, and the slowest. With all of these things being the line between me living or dying, my fate was already sealed. I stood at the window for a while, accepting that this will probably be the last time I ever see my village again. My village, Zeffari, was one of the smaller vampire hunter villages that dotted North America, ours was located in the Tongass forest of Alaska. We were surrounded by wards to keep normal humans out and young hunters in, only fully realized hunters could leave on their own.
Sighing I left the window behind and got ready for the day, throwing pants and a long sleeve shirt on, and a pair of sneakers. I made my bed and cleaned my room until it was spotless, I didn't want to leave a mess for my parents after I was gone. I closed the door behind me, saying goodbye to that part of my life. I went to the kitchen with breakfast in mind, but Renee, my mother was waiting for me. She went through the change when she was my age and found out that instead of being a hunter she was a healer and became the camp medic.
"Bella you know this process goes better if you have an empty stomach," she said sadly, she didn't expect me to live either.
"Mom," my voice cracked, "I'm so sorry you are going to have to go through this, I tried my hardest, but it's just not me, I'm not made to be a killer."
She pulled me into a hug, her body shaking from her crying, "Bella don't think like that, you never know," she paused to gather herself, "You could make it through and be a healer like me, or a scout like your friend Lucas."
I held onto her for a second more, memorizing the smell of her, before letting go to wipe away my tears, "There's another goodbye that I'm not looking forward too, did Phil already leave?"
She sighed, "Yes he did," she looked at me for a second, "You know if you actually called him dad you guys might get along better."
I let out a dry laugh, "Why would I call him dad if he's not actually my father," my mother had a few wild years after she found out she was a healer and not a hunter, she slept around a lot and got pregnant by one of her human one night stands, 9 months late I was born. Soon after that she married Phil, and my life has been nothing but hell since, "Could you at least tell me the name of my actual father before I die, you know, as a final parting gift."
"Bella you know I can't do that," she told me, "What I did was forbidden and if anyone found out that you were actually the daughter of a mundane human, we would both be killed. We were lucky enough that Phil claimed you as his blood daughter, I shudder to think what would have happened if he didn't do that."
"Whatever," I blew out a breath, "I better get going; don't want to be late for my own death."
I left before she could say another word, walking out from the house I looked at it one last time before turning away and heading toward the shamans place. I decided that saying goodbye to Lucas would be too hard, just thinking about it brought tears to my eyes. The walk to the shaman was a short one and in a matter of minutes I was standing in front of her hut. I took a deep breath before entering, sending the last of my fears away. There was a woman sitting on the floor, her hair was a deep silver color, and her skin was wrinkled from all the years she lived. I sat down opposite of her and bowed my head, waiting to be addressed.
"Young child what is your name?"
"Isabella Dwyer," I told her, "But please call me Bella."
"Isabella," she said ignoring my request, "I was wondering when the chiefs daughter would be here, are you ready to start?"
I took another deep breath, "As ready as I will ever be."
She pulled a few things out that where in a chest seated next to her. She poured a vile of clear liquid into a cup, then she cut open her hand and let some of her blood run into the cup as well. She swirled them together before handing me the cup. I looked into it, the contents were now black. I looked back to her and raised my eyebrow, "Am I supposed to drink this?"
She gave a short head nod, I shuttered slightly before tossing the mix back, the taste of copper and salt filled my mouth. I opened my mouth to ask what would happen next, but only a scream came out. All at once my body was filled with icy pain, my veins felt like they were filled with glass; my head was on fire. My vision went black and my whole being was filled with pain and screaming, and in an instant it was gone. My vison slowly came back to me, as did the feeling in my limbs. I slowly sat up, panting from the effort it took me. Blood was dripping from my nose and filled my mouth, my stomach began to turn. I searched frantically for something to void my stomach into and spotted a bucket in the corner. I crawled sluggishly over there, arriving just in time. When I was done a sat back on my heels trying to catch my breath, I glanced into the bucket and noticed it was mostly filled with black blood.
I looked to the shaman with tears in my eyes and whispered, "What happened?"
The look on her face was grim, "You survived, but just barely," she told me, "You are going to be very weak for the next couple of weeks. You will probably have some more bleeding in the next couple of days as well, your change was very traumatic. You still may not even survive, with a change that chaotic there is bound to be some back lash, as long as you feed regularly you should be fine."
I breathed out a laugh, at least I'm still alive, I thought to myself. I spit the rest of the blood out into the bucket and went to wipe my mouth off. I paused when I saw the dark black tattoos covering my hand and disappearing up my sleeve spiraling up my arm in sharp twists and turns, almost looking like fire. I pulled the sleeve of my shirt up to discover that the tattoo ran all the way up my arm. I inspected the rest of my body to see if anything else had changed, there was the same tattoo on my leg, running I don't know how far up.
"What are these?" I asked confused, none of the other hunters had any markings like this.
"Come here let me get a closer look," she took my hand into hers and when our hands maid contact I felt energy rushing into me, she pulled her and back like I shocked her and gasped quietly, "Oh my, you Isabella, you are the hunter from the prophecy."
I took a sharp breath, "What just happened?" I asked looking at my hand, "What prophecy?"
"You took some of my hunter energy, something that has never been done before," she told me just as surprised, "The prophecy that we don't speak of, it states that a young female hunter will be the end of the vampire hunters, she will be able to steal their powers and turn them back into mundane humans again, all in order to protect her half vampire child."
My eyes grew wide, "Tha-That's crazy," I stuttered, "We kill vampires, not procreate with them," I yell, "There's no way this is even possible, there is no way to reverse the change once it has taken place."
"There is Isabella," she said quietly, "You can do it, and there is no way to stop it short of killing you, you can't run from your destiny, you will have a vampires child, and you will be the end of all hunters," she paused, "And I'm not going to stop you."
"What?" I blinked in disbelief, "Why?"
"Do you know how much death I've seen because of what we are," she looked at me with a frown, "Just the change alone kills half of our youth, and only ten percent of us live to my old age, we aren't needed anymore, vampires are not as big of a threat as they used to be hundreds of years ago, it's time we stop sacrificing the youth for the old ways."
"I-I-I-," I was lost for words, "I don't know where to even start, how am I supposed to do this, turn my back on my people? Betray them?"
"First things first," she said, "We need to get you out of here, I am under oath to tell the chief about this, and he'll kill you on the spot," she paused, "You need to run home and pack your things, don't tell anyone what's going on, then you need to leave, go anywhere as long as it's away from here, I will come find you when I can and well think about things from there."
I held her gaze with a blank stare, this is really happening, I thought, my life is over now, I didn't die, but this is the closest thing to it. "Wait you said I have to feed regularly, how am I supposed to do that outside this camp, it's not like I can walk up to a vampire and say 'Hey my name is Bella, can I touch you to steal away your life force so I don't die? By the way is it okay if I have your half vampire child?'" I spit out sarcastically, "I will be dead within a week."
The shaman quietly got up and pulled a pouch off of the shelving behind her, "This pouch contains capsulized vampire life force, there is enough in here that you could survive a couple of months on, if you spread out the doses, if you do this though you will not have enough stored energy to have our accelerated healing, speed or strength. You will be completely vulnerable, but alive," she threw the pouch at me, "So don't go and get yourself into any danger."
I looked at her with wide eyes, not processing everything she was telling me. I was seconds away from hyperventilating, everything I knew was crumbling around me. I would have to leave my family behind, my friends, my people. My people, I would eventually betray them, I would take away the one reason they were put on this earth to do, and I would have to do it, I didn't have a choice. Silent tears started to run down my face, my breath coming in fast puffs.
"You don't have any time to waste," she told me, interrupting my thoughts, "You need to go now. There is another young prospect that will be here any moment for his change. Get up and get out of here."
I slowly rose to my feet, the room spinning around me, I braced myself against the wall until the world righted its self. I shot one last look to the shaman before slowly walking from her hut. My body was so drained after what I just went through I had no idea if I was going to make it home. Each step felt like I was walking through water; I struggled to keep walking, the short walk from this morning felt a hundred times longer now. Eventually I made it to my house, supporting myself on the door as I opened it. I stumbled inside and fell to my knees as I closed the door behind me, all I wanted to do was lay on the ground, catch my breath and sleep, but I knew that I couldn't. I had to get up and keep going if I wanted to survive.
"Bella?" my mother's voice was filled with hope, "Is that you?"
"Yeah," I called out weakly, "It's me."
I heard her footsteps approach me quickly, "I knew that you would be okay," she kneeled down in front of me, "Honey are you okay?"
Her hands were on my face before I could warn her and immediately I felt the rush of energy going from her body to my. She snatched her hands back from face and gasped, I looked up at her and felt blood dripping from my nose again, "No mom, I am not okay."
