Author's Note: A Valentine's Day fanfic. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.

Hinata Hyuuga

Hinata Hyuuga sat, staring at a porcelain doll. The doll's face had been chipped off, reduced to nothing more then another faceless toy.

Life is a strange thing. You are born, you change a few things and you die. That's all it is, a never-ending cycle of strangeness. No matter how you look at it, it never matters on the world-wide scale.

Just like love. Love, too is strange. When you truly care for someone, you may just decide to love them. It's not a conscience decision, it just happens. If you love somebody, shouldn't they love you back?

Hinata often wondered about this. Would the object of her affections, Naruto, ever understand and return her feelings? Certainly, the affection shown for Sakura was nothing more then a phase, a passing thought?

Sakura was the object of Naruto's affections. Hinata knew, deep down, that Naruto cared for Sakura in more then one way. Could she, the shy heiress, compete with Sakura, the person Naruto loved? Did Naruto really love Sakura or was it just friendship? Hinata didn't know.

Sakura Haruno

Sakura smiled happily as she entered her house. It had been another great day. Naruto had taken her out to dinner. It was the first romantic date they ever had. Sakura had loved every minute of it.

Naruto was always smiling. She supposed that was what made him attractive. She loved the way he grinned when they were on dates, the way his face would adopt that look of confusion when she asked him something he didn't know.

He was perfect. Her dream guy. So innocent, charming. They had been dating for over a year. That brought up a new question. Was it possible that she had found the one?

Naruto was naive and that made him cute. But, what if he cheated on her? What if he dated someone else after their marriage? What if he slept with other girls?

Naruto loved her. Sakura was certain of it. But, the way he watched Hinata sometimes... Was it possible that he loved Hinata?

Hinata had her chance. All those years and not a single move. She was over him. Sakura was almost sure of it. Almost.

Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto laid on his bed. His eyes were drawn to an ointment container. It had small chips of paint on it, almost resembling a face perhaps painted on a porcelain doll? He wondered why he hadn't noticed those when Hinata gave him the ointment during the Chuunin Exams.

Hinata was a shy girl, but she could be more like Sakura at times. Naruto had always felt something for Hinata that just wasn't there with Sakura. At the same time, he felt something for Sakura that was non-existent with Hinata.

What was it? What was missing?

Naruto's thoughts went from Hinata to Sakura and back. Who was the one for him?

The shy heiress Hinata or the tomboy Sakura?

Somehow, Naruto knew he would find out.

Author's Note: I tried to give both Sakura and Hinata a chance. SakuNaru or NaruHina. You pick.
