Hi guys! After I finished Crimson Met Jade I received many requests for a Sakura/Saskue story so here it goes! This is a short introduction on what will hopefully be an awesome story! For those who favor the evil yet somehow lovable Orochimaru he is the main villain in the story unlike Crimson Met Jade where he shares the limelight with Madara. Hope you guys enjoy!

I dont own Naruto!

"Don't make a sound." His whisper into my ear was barely audible.

Reaching my hand out, I used the special sign language we created in order to communicate in situations like these.

"They are approaching fast." I signaled silently.

The faint sound of a twig snapping shifted our attention to the nearby river bank.

I shook my head, anticipating he would follow the sound straight to the river bank.

Quickly, I signaled again.

"It's a trap." My hands communicated.

"It's a challenge." He signaled back.

"Don't be stupid!" I hissed, unaware I had said that aloud.

Shit. My temper always got the best of me.

A strong chakra appeared within range abruptly.

Naruto's arms wrapped around my waist pulling me close to his chest, protectively.

"What are you-?" Naruto quickly flipped me over onto my back down into the dirt, as he his body hovered over mine, causing us to lay face to face with mere inches between our noses.

I raised a brow questioning his motives.

Before he could say anything his face scrunched up signaling he was in some sort of pain. A few moments later he fell over to his side landing face down onto the forest floor.

Propping myself up on my elbows I glanced over at Naruto. Three kunai were embedded into his back, two of them in each shoulder and one in between his shoulder blades.

"Naruto!" I scrambled onto my hands and knees.

No response.

"Naruto are you okay?" I removed the three kunai.

He didn't even flinch.

"No, there's no way you could be unconscious from that kind of injury!" I said aloud to myself.

I flipped him over onto his back and set my ear next to his mouth for a few moments.

There was no air coming from his nostrils.

"Naruto….no. No! no! no! no!no!" I immediately ripped open his shirt and summoned chakra to my fingertips. Sending my cool waves of chakra through his chest I examined his condition.

His heart was beating? Wait a second, he had a pulse. This wasn't making any sense.

I laid my ear next to his nose once more.

Suddenly hands grabbed each side of my face and a felt a wet kiss on the side of my cheek.

Startled by the sudden assault, I let out a seriously embarrassing girl scream.

Naruto immediately erupted into an obnoxious storm of laughter.

"Oh man, I got you good this time Sakura-chan! You should have seen your face, and that scream was priceless!" he rolled around on the ground clutching his stomach.

"BAKA!" I growled clutching him by the collar of his navy mesh shirt.

Channeling chakra to my arms, I tossed Naruto into the air and met him mid- descent with a chakra infused kick that sent him crashing into a nearby tree.

"I thought you were dead!" I screamed.

"I wish I was now…" he groaned.

Appearing out of nowhere as usual Kakashi and Sai approached my side.

"And YOU two!" I pointed a single, dangerously chakra infused finger.

"This was supposed to be a training session, who nails their own teammate with three kunai in the back?!"

Both of them took a giant step back to put some space in between themselves and my finger.

Sai pointed to Kakashi, selling him out.

"Seriously?" Kakashi narrowed his single grey eye at Sai.

"Lighten up Sakura-chan! Kakashi-Sensai was right about what he said the other day, training needs to be more realistic now. No more roll playing, Tsunade is about to start trusting us with A-rank missions! A few kunai never hurt me anyway!" Naruto winced as he rubbed his more than likely bruised back.

"Then maybe you shouldn't be playing practical jokes during a training session!" I reprimanded.

"She has a point, Naruto." Kakashi said lazily.

"If this were a real mission, Naruto just saved your life Sakura-chan. Perhaps you shouldn't let your tempter distract you. Your large forehead and pink hair are already two dead giveaways of your presence to the enemy." Sai displayed a fake and obviously forced smile on his face.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!" I stormed after him.

"Ah! Sakura-chan no! Sai, RUN!" Naruto struggled to hold me back.

Kakashi sighed heavily and pulled a volume of Icha-Icha out of his pocket.

"I suppose that will be all the training for today." He said walking and reading at the same time.

Sai took off running wide eyed and flustered.

"GET BACK HERE YOU MORON!" Naruto was now gripping my ankles as I continued to storm towards Sai dragging him along with me.

"Sakura-chan don't kill him we can't afford to lose another team mate!" Naruto laughed nervously.

Old Sakura would have gone into an immediate depression at the mention of our "previous teammate" but I was stronger now and I had moved on from that.

"I think we can manage with a three man team, isn't that right Kakashi?" I laughed menacingly.

"As long as I don't have to clean up any blood." He responded lazily.

I flashed a devious smile at Naruto.

"Oh no, she's lost it!" he screeched.

Breaking into a sprint I easily caught up with Sai.

"A thousand years of death!" I roared as I sent Sai flying into the air with a mere two fingers.

Landing a few yards ahead, Naruto ran to his side.

"Sai, Sai! Talk to me!" he cried dramatically.

Sai's only response was a long drawn out groan of defeat.

"We lost him! Sakura-chan how could you!?" Naruto hung his head low mourning Sai's "death".

Unable to take the situation seriously anymore, I burst into laughter as I stepped over Naruto and Sai. It was days like these that made the other not so good one's bearable.

It had been a long time coming but finally for the past few months I had started to feel alive again since Saskue's departure from the village. I had let myself remain so weak, for so long I didn't realize how useless I was to my team back then. After a year of mourning the loss of Saskue, and losing Naruto to his training with Jiriyah, I finally decided I would stop crying and prepare myself to be stronger for their return. After begging Lady Tsunade to train me, I endured the most intense training I've ever had in my life. It all paid off in the end thought, when Naruto returned a few months ago, he was stronger and so was I. Team 7 reunited and renamed Team Kakashi with Sai and Saskue's replacement and my medical ninjutsu had already proven to be one of the greatest improvements for the teams on missions.

Life after Sasuke was good, honestly more like bearable, rather than good. I had to be honest with myself, life without Sasuke would never be good. I would always be missing a piece of me that I would forever love, but that wouldn't stop be from finding happiness and love with someone else. Besides, I had Naruto, he was like the brother I never had and our friendship grew even stronger since his return from his two year training.

Deep down, I knew Naruto wasn't over Sasuke's departure and he never would be. I know he thinks about him every second of everyday despite his amazing ability to mask his true thoughts and feelings. But for now, I would leave it alone and if Naruto ever needed me or needed to talk about it, I would be there for him.

"Come on baka's, ramen on sensai." I flashed a smile at the copycat ninja.

Before he could protest I raised a hand to silence him.

"You promised the last time you cancelled on us that you would make it up!" I threw his words from a few weeks ago back at him.

Slumping his shoulders in defeat he sighed.

"Fine, but Naruto has a limit. I'd prefer not to lose my house."

"Aw come on sensai don't be like that! Naruto whined.

Shaking my head I continued to walk back with the team towards the gates of Konoha with my teammates. We were banned from the training grounds within the village gates due to Naruto destroying small sections of neighborhoods one too many times with his resengan.

"Hey I think I'm going to stop by my apartment and shower first before we-"

I was cut off mid-sentence by someone ramming into me and knocking me to the forest floor.

Rolling the heavy person off of me I stood on my feet ready to scowl at the person responsible.

"Hey watch where the hell you're going!" I ground out.

As a medic I was certain my heart had actually stopped beating momentarily at the sight in front of me.

"Holy shit….." was all Naruto could manage to say for once.

"Oh, this isn't good." Kakashi sighed.

"Interesting." Sai said emotionless.

Stunned and unable to breathe, let alone speak I stood there gawking at the bloodied and tattered body of Sasuke Uchiha slumped at my feet.
