1:47 PM, exactly two minutes after the last time Kaiba had checked the clock in his art class. This required semester of art... It was a waste of time and an insult to his intelligence, but he certainly wasn't going to let his emotions get in the way of excelling at whatever task the teacher threw at him.
His class' current assignment was a free-form sculpture made of clay. Kaiba's project was that of a human brain, exquisitely rendered. He sat at his desk now, idly glazing the fired piece of art a coral pink.
He didn't like his class at all, especially because he shared it with the mutt. But that couldn't be helped. Kaiba sat on the other side of the room, far away from him, so they didn't have to interact, which was for the best.
At his own desk across the room, Jounouchi stood up with the intention of going to get his own project: a kiln-fired heart, flat and smooth, perhaps like a coaster? Or maybe it could be made into a Christmas ornament? He had no idea, but Anzu had suggested the subject material of the clay piece, and he'd agreed with it because it seemed simple enough to do.
He stood, yes, and walked around the other students' desks toward the bookshelf where all the projects sat. Looking straight ahead, he was lost in thought about what color he should glaze his project, only to be pulled from his thoughts by something bumping against his hip, and the sound of something solid hitting the ground and breaking. He stopped and tensed, knowing he'd knocked over someone's project.
A familiar voice, growling slightly, shot at his back, "Jounouchi, you broke my brain!"
"If you want, I can break 'yer face ta' go with it!" the blond spun around and glared at Kaiba, instinctively raising his fists. He hadn't meant to knock the other boy's project off Kaiba's desk, but that mattered little now. All that his body was concerned with at the moment was the spike of adrenaline from the thrill of the challenge.
Kaiba sat still for a moment, eyes narrowed, and simply stated, "You knocked it off, mutt. So pick that damn thing up and you fix it."
Yes, the brunette was justified in his anger, but something about him just set Jounouchi on edge, made him cockier, more defensive, more aggressive. "...Tch. Fine," he replied, reluctantly giving in, his conscience nagging him, forcing him to let down his pride.
He bent, picking up the broken sculpture, and thankfully, it'd only broken into a few large pieces, and hadn't shattered completely. Gingerly, he laid them back down on Kaiba's desk one by one. "There," he stated, that adrenaline mostly subsided now. "I didn't mean ta' do it."
"It doesn't matter if you didn't mean to do it or not," Kaiba replied, smirking. "I still demand retribution for what you've done."
"Retri-wha?" He paused a moment, then his eyes widened, and he stood immediately in front of the shelves of projects, his still sitting there complete and unmarred. "You can't break my heart!"
A significant pause... then the brunette replied, "...calm down. I'm not going to break your heart." He slid the pieces of his own sculpture nearer to the other boy. "Just glue my brain together."
