START

The desert sun slowly lowered itself onto the horizon, as the large full moon rose.

A pale teenage boy, almost man, was standing by an oasis. One of his trademark daggers was held in his shaking hand. Crimson blood spewed from wound that was caused by it.

As a sigh escaped from his lips, he looked up at the sky, thinking about her, wishing she were there besides him. Oh, how he longed to tell her everything-- from beginning to end.

"Anzu…" he whispered.

"A… Akifa..?" replied the sweet voice of a young female. "What are you doing?" she questioned, in a worried tone that rested in her voice and her large, bright eyes.

"Nnn.." was all Akifa mumbled, his dark brown eyes looking down towards his crimson-colored wrists. "N…Nothing.." he mumbled softly, closing his eyes slowly.

Azure eyes soon blinked as she noticed something in the moon's pale glow. A gasp escaped from her pink lips as she stared at him. Her long peachy legs ran over to him as quickly as they could, and she began to tare off the end of her dress.

"What were you thinking!?" she half-asked, half-yelled.

Mustering up what strength he had left, Akifa grabbed her wrist. He brought it towards him, holding it to his chest where his heart was still slowly beating.

"A…About you… a-and… Him." he mumbled underneath his breath, the last little bit coming out as if he were spitting out venom.

It took the young girl a moment or so, but she soon seemed to understand who he was talking about.

"Atemu?" she asked himAnzu didn't completely understand what she and Atemu had together or what Akifa meant. She thought about it briefly, and then gasped again.

"Akifa," she said softly, wrapping her arms around him tightly and resting her head on his chest, "I do not care for him...not like I do foryou…" she whispered, slowly tilting her head up at him.

Akifa was beginning to get paler than he already was. He looked down at her, slowly wrapping his good arm around her form.

"Anzu," He said softly into her ear, unable to speak loud, "Ever sense I first laid my eyes upon you.. I have loved you… You are innocent, beautiful, sweet, understanding…" and paused and winced, feeling pain running through his body. "…You're… Everything…" He began to close his eyes slowly, letting out small and gentle moans.

As Anzu noticed this, a few crystalline tears began to run down her ghastly white cheeks.

"Pl-please don't… Akifa... don't die… I need you…" she hugged him even closer, crying into his strong chest, his heart slowly starting to stop.

"I love you…"

"I love you, too…My Thief King…"
