A tear formed in his eye. It was truly the end. Hal Emmerich watched as the coffin was lowered into the ground.

"Otacon" He remembered his friend's last words to him face to face "I won't be needing any back up for this mission. Just sit tight and wait for me to return."

"Of course he wouldn't return. He never declined my help before. Somehow he knew it was the end." Hal just sighed. Meryl just held his arm, trying to offer solace, but she too was affected. Inside they knew this day would come.

Rain began to fall as the trumpeter brought out his instrumet. He didn't play "Taps" like they would at a normal funeral. He played a tune very familiar to Otacon.

Otacon, Mei Ling, Rose, Meryl as well as a few familiar faces stood side by side to pay their final wishes to a man; a hero. He never had a real name, so on his tombstone read "Iroquis Pliskin"

No one was allowed to speak a word of it for the rest of their lives. No one was to know of the tale of "Solid Snake" the worl's oldest hero. From his father, his legacy died with him. The gravediggers continued covering up the hole as if he was another nobody. This was the end of a man. A hero. A legend. The world's savior; Solid Snake. The group stood in silence as the last patches of dirt were thrown on. On the top of his grave rested flowers, a gun and a pack of cigarettes.

"Goodbye Snake." Emmerich walked away from the grave with his head held low.
