She stepped out from the doorway, turned left, and began to briskly walk. It was late night in Piltover, the stars mostly obscured by clouds and the elevated roads of the city's upper levels. Steam shout out from the pipes heading up the buildings and water dripped down from the canopy of steel and concrete above her, pooling and reflecting the dim amber light of streetlamps. Filth and oil gathered along the joining of the buildings and sidewalk, and the street was strewn with broken glass from those leaving bars every few hundred feet.

The young woman was on her way home from work at a bar, and she wanted to hurry. Being out alone in the more seedy underlevels of Piltover was generally a bad idea for someone like her. She was an attractive young woman, with auburn hair flowing down to the center of her back. She was covered by her white jacket, under which a shorter black skirt and matching tank top covered her soft curves. Her shoes made a soft tapping noise on the concrete as she passed dark alleyway after alleyway, and the drips of condensation on the pipes echoed throughout the streets.

As she turned onto the next street, she paused for a second. A flash of motion in the closest alleyway had caught her eye, and she reached into her jacket pocket to grasp her can of self-defense spray. As she wrapped her fingers around the cool metal, she calmed herself. Most people down here won't give someone who can resist any trouble. After about ten seconds, she turned and continued walking, satisfied it had just been a trick of the eyes. As she passed the darkened alcove of a shop, she saw movement out of the corner of her eye. The pipe flew into the base of her skull, and all she saw was darkness. She flew forward into the metal grates covering the windows, her jacket snagging on a sharp corner, as a shadowy figure caught her. It dragged her into the alleyway, tearing a small strip of her jacket. As she disappeared into the inky blackness, a small piece of white fabric fluttered in the breeze, and a maroon stain slowly spread down the window.
