The rain dissipates, the pounding of water droplets on the cobblestone paths outside decreasing to a dull roar, before becoming just a few drips.
Luna gasps, ripping the curtain open to look outside. The first sunshine in days slowly overflows into the room, gently illuminating the stormy darkness.
Ginny can't help but smile, watching her. Luna is always, always so calm, but after living together for a while, Ginny knows the little things about Luna that no one else ever noticed; one of them being how she despised rain.
This storm had lasted for days. Luna was bound to be excited.
"Hurry Ginny, hurry!" she squeals, very unlike herself. Ginny doesn't have time to ask why before she grabs her wrist and begins pulling her down the stairs of their flat.
"The sunshine after a long rain...it's always a special light," she remarks, continuously tugging Ginny down the many flights of stairs.
She doesn't have a chance to reply before she is pulled out into the light.
Leftover raindrops slide into puddles, creating quiet ripples. Wet leaves and trees glisten with minuscule dew drops. The sunshine is not bright; rather, it is a pale yellow...almost like-
Almost like the color of Luna's hair.
Ginny's breath catches as her girlfriend's hand leaves hers. The world ripples away like a puddle as she watches her smile at her, before beginning to twirl in a puddle, laughing and throwing her head back to look at the clear sky.
She's so beautiful it hurts. Her hair, so free, whips around her in a blonde storm, the rays of light bouncing off it and creating an illusion of liquid gold. Her azure eyes, twinkling in happiness. Her smile, small and the whole world all at once.
"Look!"
Ginny snaps her head back, only to gasp. The sky is covered with a veil of light; a spectrum of color. There is a rainbow, large and bold, shimmering and shining, hanging above their heads like a banner.
"A rainbow," Ginny breathes. She's never seen one so pure before.
"I haven't seen one in such a long time," Luna says. "They're so pretty."
Ginny turns to her, unable to reply. It's funny, how that girl always manages to make her speechless by the simplest of things; Ginny isn't the type of girl to just not reply.
Then again, Luna isn't any ordinary girl.
"Aren't they so magical?" Luna whispers next to you. "It's unreal, color in the sky, rain and sunshine, opposites mixed to create something new."
Ginny grabs Luna's chin and lowers her lips onto hers. They're moist and welcoming and dance to a rhythm as fast as her beating heart.
"Why'd you kiss me?" Luna murmurs, bending her head to rest on Ginny's shoulder.
"Don't make the magic stop," Ginny replies, tightening her hold on Luna's back.
Luna lifts her head to smile at her in such a blithely perfect way that Ginny stops breathing.
Maybe she was the rain, and maybe Luna was her sunshine.
A/N: This pairing is admittedly cute.
