Kairi's Pov.

I didn't know what was going on. There were shadowy things with yellow eyes roaming around my home. Grandma was gone, I couldn't find her. It was as if she had vanished into the shadows, like the ones that were following me. I hid inside the castle near the center of town, sitting behind a wall, panting and shaking with fear. Fear that I haven't felt since those other monsters with red eyes attacked, when that blue haired woman saved me with a sword that looked like a key. I had given her the flowers I had picked to thank her for saving my life. Before I left though, she touched my necklace, light sparkled from it. It almost made me feel safer. I remember what she said to me too, she said,'It will lead you to someone who can protect you; someone to keep you safe.' My hand clutched the pearl white gem stone, it made me feel calmer. Suddenly, my eyes saw the faint glow of two yellow ones in the dark. I had nowhere to run.

As it prepared to attack me, I closed my eyes and whispered,"Someone to keep me safe..."

Normal Pov.

The night stars twinkled around the Destiny Islands, as two boys lied on the sandy ground, listening to the serene sound of waves overlapping each other. The first boy was about five years old. He had spiky brown hair and blue eyes, and was wearing a white t-shirt with scarlet red shorts. The second boy was just a year older than his best friend. He had silver hair and light green/blue eyes. He wore a sleeveless yellow shirt and blue shorts. The two boys stared amazed at the starry night sky. They had done this before many times, coming out to the beach almost every night. The endless field of light shining against the dark sometimes reminded them of a story that their mothers would tell them before they went to sleep; about there being as many worlds besides their own as the stars in the sky.

The spiky haired boy was about to doze off, when something flashed in the corner of his eye. His silver haired friend had seen it too. Sparks of light shot across the sky. "A meteor shower..." the boy said as the younger boy looked at him in confusion.

"A what?"

"A meteor shower. They're like stars that shoot across the sky every once in a while. I thought that our teacher told us about it today, Sora."

"I guess I might've fallen asleep today Riku." Both boys laughed.

They stopped when they heard a groan coming from the far side of the beach. Riku grabbed his wooden sword and stood up. "Come on, let's take a look around." Sora nodded and picked up his toy weapon while standing up as well. They walked for about a minute or two when they spotted the source of the noise. It was a girl with short red hair. She looked to be close to Sora's age, and she had on a white and purple dress that looked like it had been rolled around in mud.

Riku and Sora brought her closer to the small town, and they decided that Riku should get help. He decided to run towards the mayor's house since it was the closest.

Sora looked at the girl and wondered where she came from.

It had been three days since then, and now Sora and Riku were out on that same beach. They were tossing a beach ball back and fourth to each other, when the mayor came up to them with the girl. He asked the boys if they would introduce her to the other kids. They happily agreed and began to show her the smaller island where all of the kids play at. She introduced herself as Kairi, and told them that she couldn't remember anything before she woke up at the mayor's house. The three had been friends since then.

But a voice kept playing over and over in Kairi's head whenever she looked at Sora. It kept saying the same thing, in the same feminine voice that somehow made the small red head girl feel calm and safe, like water.

"...Someone to keep you safe..."
