Kayneth had never been one to even contemplate a relationship with another person. In fact, it was hard enough for him as it was to remain a friend based one, let alone on a romantic level. Sure, there were colleagues, and in his childhood days there was a group of people he spent time with for the sheer purpose of debating, comparing and trying to hold an intelligent conversation (sadly, some of those who claimed to be were mere imbeciles that believed, if you cried something hard enough, others would accept it), but an actual relationship with another human being where they saw each other as fair equals? Never.

At least, that was the case until the day he'd entered the house of his former class mate for a conversation based purely on work, theories and ideas on Summoning and small-talk on heritage.

It was by the afternoon tea that the daughter of the head of the spiritual evocation division arrived home. They were introduced, with her father speaking very highly of the renowned magi himself. But, for once, Kayneth found himself with very little care for the praise that was thrown around about him. Sola-Ui, as she had been introduced, was possibly the first to not only capture, but hold his interest for an extended period of time, and on noticing it, the once fellow student of the magi quickly found an excuse to brush out of the room.

The father hardly cared for the age difference; the men Sola-Ui had shown interest in, were hardly capable of upholding the lineage. It most certainly was entertaining to see the way Kayneth's lips would curl into a, for once, not cruel smile as he spoke to the lady who'd just reached adulthood, his normally almost depressed way of behaviour now charged with childlike joy, his tea and Victoria sponge completely forgotten as he asked about her day, future and interests. The fact Sola-Ui was merely holding a polite conversation was of no matter- she would grow accustomed to him.

After allowing more than a few minutes of small-talk by themselves, the father of the youth returned, finding Kayneths' head canted to the door that the young redhead just vacated through. With how little experience he had, he wasn't even aware he was open like a book with his feelings towards Sola-Ui: absolutely smitten just from the short encounter with the fair lady.

"You know," her father spoke up, ending the silence and making Kayneth turn to face him, his expression proving he'd forgotten who he originally came in for. "I'm beginning to think that a tenth generation of the Archibald lineage won't be too difficult to attain."
