The Nature of the Dragonslayer

A twig snapped, he turned sharply but saw nothing more. A flash of lightning and the world was drowning in the tears of the sky. His hair clung to his face as he stalked between the trees of the shadowed forest, hunting his prey. Again, another flash of lightning, this time dancing off the edge of his sword and then swallowed by the dark.

The albino treaded carefully as his boots slid in to the mud, silencing his step as he quickened his pace. His heart raced suddenly as the sky roared at the ground where his victim raced away. A stab of lightning and Dilandau's prey was betrayed. The light had embraced the victim's sword and shown Dilandau the way.

'You're blood is mine Van,' he growled softly to himself.

The albino's eyes were alight as he chased the raven-haired boy. The soft ground slowed his pace but he made easy foot work dodging between the twisting roots of the trees. Dilandau stopped; he had followed his prey out of the forest. He was now out in the open and Van had disappeared. A trap. Dilandau's shadowed disguise had been stripped from him and he didn't even now until it had become too late.

The crimson soldier held his ground as his eyes clawed at the edge of the forest, searching for Van. Another fork of lightning smashed across the skyline, but betrayed no one this time. Dilandau span on his heel to face the empty fields. A footstep? The albino looked at the floor where he had heard something force its way in to the mud. Apart from the saturated grass there was only a fist-sized rock. His red eyes widened, someone had thrown it there. Dilandau turned sharply back to the tree line but it was too late. A roar of thunder, and he fell in to the eyes of his prey. The taste of the edge of Van's sword on his neck reminded him that it was he who had been hunted.

'Drop it,' Van commanded coolly.

Without hesitation the Lord of the Dragonslayers dropped his sword, dropped his pride in to the mud that half consumed it.

This had all been a trap, it must have been. How did Van know that he was coming? The albino however hadn't lost all hope. Dilandau still clung on his burning desire to kill Van. The sword was an obstacle, but it could be overcome. Dilandau had endured worse situations.

'So, should I kill you now or drag you to Fanelia and kill you so I can flaunt you dead body to the masses?' Van teased, pushing the albino's lust to see Van dead to the extreme.

'I wouldn't count on it Van,' Dilandau half shouted back as his mind stabbed the king in the stomach. The force of the telekinesis wave smashed Van's sword on impact in to fragmented glass and Van was thrown back in to the forest. The raven haired boy made a quick recovery however as he sprang back to his feet. 'So you want to play it that way then Dilandau.'
