Disclaimer: I do not own Yashie and his funky friends. Trust me, if I did, then InuKag and MirSan would've happened a LOT sooner. Rumiko Takahashi owns them. But Keira, Sona, this version of Kagome's father, and most of their relatives ARE mine, however. Mwuahahahaha.
Anyway, this has been MAJORLY edited. Like, it's barely the same and yet better than ever. I couldn't leave it the way it was, the poor thing was killing me. For those of you who first saw it, you'll know a certain revelation happened in like chapter three. Now it's happening from the get-go. Whoopee. I'll fix two chapters at a time and then post them one after another. Just like that, until it's all caught up.
You can find pictures to some of this stuff on my Facebook and my Tumblr too, I'm not too shy. But my Facebook has more stuff for the third installment of this series, rather than it in itself. Whatever.
Feast upon the insanity. Yeah, I have no idea…
Enjoy!
Chapter one: Welcome Home..? (originally 'An Awkward Meeting')
Keira's POV
" So, why did you decide to come back after five years specifically?" I rolled my eyes and flicked my blinker on, turning my eyes to my sister and smirking. " Sona, I didn't specifically come back on this day. Believe me, I wanted to come back earlier, to live here again and see you all. But since Bossman is a dick with a thirty foot pole up his hairy ass, I couldn't. If you want someone to blame, then yell at him, we both work for his ass after all." She nodded absently, smiling at me indulgently. " Sure sure, little sister." I growled. " You're only older by five minutes, damnit." At my indignant rebuttal, she started laughing and patted my shoulder.
I parked the car in an empty space next to the insanely tall steps that led up to the Higurashi Shrine and we got out. I lock the car, that beautiful red Ford Mustang of mine (Hooray for Bossman shipping my personal car from the States back home!), as we make our way up the steps. About halfway up, I opened my mouth to ask Sona a question. " Think she's mellowed out some since I last saw her?" Sona pursed her lips and thought very hard for several long moments, prompting me to ponder as well. We both looked at eachother at the same time, saying 'Nope' in unison.
We finally reached the top, laughing about stupid shit that we recounted to eachother, and I opened the rice door to the house, not bothering to knock seeing as we'd both grown up here. We did however take our shoes off, because we weren't total assholes. While Sona stayed downstairs to talk to Mama, I went to our room to relive stupid memories. I heard movement in my little sister's room which was just a door down, and decided to investigate. It was a school day, and she should be in class. True, she could be sick, but that's highly unlikely. Our family has great immune systems. I open the door, expecting to see my baby sister...and see some dude with silver hair that's almost longer than mine.
He turns to stare at me with a deer-in-the-headlights look, and it only takes but a moment for me to react. " WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE?!" I shout and reach for the first thing I can find to throw at him. Unfortunately that was my notebook, and my day planner went next. He dodged every single one, to my utter frustration. " Stay still so I can hit you, damnit!" I holler, irritated.
Just then, Kagome walks in the room drying her hair with a towel. " What's going on in here?" She asks, taking in the picture of me frozen with my arm above my head with my phone in hand, face outraged and the guy looking at her with relief. I step closer to her and push her behind me.
" Stay behind me, Sweetums. I don't know who the hell this wackjob is, but he's about to get a case of whoop-ass opened on him." Kagome, entirely used to my brash and often foul-mouthed behavior, kept quiet for the most part while the man snarled. " Kagome, get over here." He ordered her and I narrowed my eyes. " Both of you stop it." Kagome herself commanded, stepping in between me and the man...well, boy is more accurate. He didn't look a day over fifteen. But I wasn't stupid. There were many ways to maintain youth, surgery being one. But he didn't exactly look like the kind of person who had enough money to go under the knife for that BS. Not that I judge people often, based on their looks. Whatever, nevermind. I narrowed my eyes at him more. " So, Kaggie-dear, why is there a half demon in your bedroom without permission?" Kagome's eyes widened, obviously floored.
" How did you-" I cut her off. " I'm not an idiot, baby sister. And.." I trailed off, gesturing to his obvious dog ears that swiveled around on his head like little satellites. I heard a snicker behind me and turned around to see Sona trying to stifle her laughter into her hand, and was sort of failing in that endeavor. Mama giggled into her hand, eyeing the silver haired boy sympathetically.
" I'm sorry about that, Inuyasha. I suppose Keira bursting in like that must've scared a few years off your life." She said and I gasped soundlessly, offended. She's taking his side?! But-but! " MAMA!" Sona and I shouted at her. She turned to us with a calm face but I swear to god I saw a familiar hellfire blaze in her deep chocolate orbs. I clammed up with a weird grimace, because sonofabitch, I knew that look. That was the look every child hated. The one that said you'd be in deep shit.
Kagome watched from the sidelines, face bored and expectant. " If you're all done, I can explain." She said. " This is Inuyasha. He's a friend of mine and, believe it or not, he's from the Warring States era of Japan. I fell down the well on my fifteenth birthday and somehow went back through time to his. Demons are real and we're kind of in the middle of battling an evil demon named Naraku." I sighed.
" Babes, you are aware that I know that already, right?" Sona nodded behind me in boredom and Kagome blinked. Once. Twice. Once more. And then she promptly flipped. " WHAT?!" She said, shock practically welded to her face. " I said I know already. About a great deal of it. I just didn't recognize Puppy-Boy here." A low growl reverberated through the room and I silenced it with one of my own. " Push that growl back in your throat before I shove it down to your stomach." I warned him.
Sensing an impending quarrel, Mama stepped in like a pro, which she essentially is. " Alright, now children. Kagome, Inuyasha, I'll explain. Though I suggest you both sit down." Mama gave me and Sona a look and we walked out, going to the bathroom to take off our concealment charms. On the way, we bumped into Grandpa and he wailed about demons before smacking sutras on us that did nothing, as usual. " Grandpa, you know you have absolutely no power whatsoever, right?" He looked shocked and hobbled down the stairs. I sighed. " Is it me or did he get more senile?" Sona giggled. " Just a bit." She confirmed.
We walked back in Kagome's room and Inuyasha staggered back, confusion and, you guessed it, shock painted on his face. " I'm sure you're wondering." I said, taking a seat in Kagome's desk chair. Sona sat at the foot of the bed, Kagome sitting between her and Inuyasha as a buffer I suppose.
I noticed Mama had no place to sit so I stood from the desk chair and leaned against the wall with my arms crossed as Mama gently took my seat, offering me a grateful smile. " So, I'm sure you both are confused, yes? I'll start from near the beginning. I had been working on the garden one day when the well house glowed. Your grandfather had always told stories of the well and the Tree of Ages but I never believed them. Who would? But, a feeling took hold of me, something told me to check that well house. And you wouldn't believe who I found in the well." She paused. " Daddy." Sona and I said and she nodded. " Indeed, girls. Your father, had traveled through time and was hurt from battle. He was groggy from bloodloss and was clearly in need of medical attention, so I took it upon myself to get him out and treat him. From that, I learned his name was Mamoru and he was a Lord from the Mutsu Province of ancient Japan. Before the Warring States era, I'd wager. I didn't care about that, though. As I learned more about him, I began to fall deeply in love with him, and he with me. He asked me to be with him and I agreed. About a week or two after a certain night, I found out I was pregnant. We were so excited and imagine when we found out we weren't having just one, but two." Sona and I sweatdropped but grinned.
" When the twins were born, we both felt a strange pulse from them. Naturally, as a new parent, I was concerned at the least. But, Mamoru calmed me down and explained it to me in private. Kagome, dear, I'm sure you are aware of your spiritual powers?" At Kagome's nod, Mama hummed in agreement.
" That's what we felt. Well, Mamoru and I felt a combination of spiritual and demonic powers." Inuyasha's eyebrows furrowed. " How? Kagome's only human...right?" I snickered and quickly tried to cover it up with a cough. The look Mama gave me said I'd failed. " Not quite, dear. Our dear Kagome is more like you than you'd ever guess." I hid my grin. Inuyasha blinked.
" Okay, I'm so lost right now." I facepalmed and I heard Sona copy me. " She's a half demon, idiot!" I finally burst. I couldn't hold it any longer, and I had to let it go. " Say what now?!" Kagome all but shrieked. I stuck a finger in my ear to gently relieve some of the pressure. " Quite a set of lungs on ya, baby sis." I commented with a bit of a grimace.
" You never were one to beat around the bush. But yes, Kagome, you are indeed a half demon. In fact, all of you are. Keira and Sona, you, and even Souta." Kagome's gaze snapped to us and we nodded. Then we looked at eachother and sighed, noticing we still looked the same. I reached behind my neck and unraveled a silver bead from my hair, watching as it bled silver like a river of white. Sona copied me and we shrugged as our hair turned the color of snow and our eyes now mirrored sunset.
Inuyasha still looked confused and Kagome seemed almost catatonic….dogatonic. As if sensing my thoughts, Sona snickered with me. We're idiots. Mama nodded. " Yes, Kagome, you are in fact a half demon. Your father was a demon Lord, I left that part out in the beginning to keep you from freaking out." I snorted. " Yeah, and now she's freaking in." I stated. Had Sona been drinking anything, it would've come flying out her nose.
Kagome finally seemed to compose herself. " Okay, yeah, I'll think more about this later. As of now, Inuyasha, these are my older sisters, Sona and Keira Higurashi." We grinned, Sona reaching around Kagome to hold her hand out and I walked over, holding my own hand out. Inuyasha seemed to pause for several long seconds before taking our hands and shaking them, before letting them go like they were made of acid. Good. " By the way, Kaggie-dear, you still have to explain why there was a half demon in your room, whom I did not know. May I remind you that I trust no one I haven't met?" I commented, amber eyes narrowing and my tone dark. Inuyasha leaned over to Kagome.
" Are they insane?" Sona and I grinned. " Nope." I responded. " We're sane. Believe me, if we were insane, you'd know." Sona nodded emphatically.
And that's it for chapter one! Well, the redid chapter one…Anyway, I'd love it if you could review and tell me your thoughts. I've made some serious progress since I first published this story back in 2014.
Obviously, things have changed. Like when Mama (Hikari) Higurashi reveals to Kagome and Inuyasha that her husband and her children all have demon blood in them. Chapter two will also be edited and posted immediately, and then I take a break from editing and work more on chapter twelve. I know the schedule is screwed up but once the rewriting process is completed, it'll be back to normal. I'll also be taking away the filler chapter, cause it was kind of stupid anyway.
Thanks everyone!
