Skewed Christmas

Jack sat beside the glittering Christmas tree watching the tinsel bound John Grant struggle across from him. John screamed vainly around the piece of fruitcake he'd been gagged with. On Jack's lap, Chloe toyed with the Santa hat that was perched on Jack's blonde head. Reaching behind Chloe into the tree, Jack pulled out a sharp knife. John's eyes grew wide in horror. Was Jack going to kill Sam's daughter in front of him?

"Jack stop!" Samantha cried racing into the room and John let out a short-lived sigh of relief. She rushed forward and grabbed a camcorder from the coffeetable and moved towards them. "You know I want to record this."

A loving smile flashed across Jack's face and he handed the knife to Chloe, "Merry Christmas Chlo."

"Can I use it right now? Can I? Pleeease?!?"

"Of course," Jack smiled and winked at John who looked horrified and fearful. Suddenly John found himself wishing the knife had been to kill Chloe, as the eight year old girl brandished the knife.

"Chloe Waters-Trades, what do we say?" Samantha reprimanded her gently.

Pressing a kiss on Jack's cheek, she said, "Thank you."

"You're welcome Princess."

Chloe climbed off Jack's lap and walked over to John. Jack's lap freed, Samantha continued focusing the camera as she made her way over to her husband. Wrapping his arms around her, Jack drew his Samantha onto his lap as she filmed their daughter. The pair smiled proudly as the young girl approached their captive.

Turning to her parents, Chloe demanded, "Can I kill him?"

The camera moved down momentarily and the couple shouted in unison, "Chloe!"

"I know, we don't kill, we create," she singsonged. "So can I?"

Samantha raised the camera again as Jack told John, "Encouraging a child's creativity is so important don't you think?"

Carefully holding her knife, Chloe climbed into John's lap and pressed the blade against his chest as she informed him, "Soft tissue is our friend. We want to party with it."
