After the Window

"Colonel!" Samantha Carter called, chasing her commanding officer down the hall. He grinned, stopped and turned around to face her. She caught up to him, and rolled her eyes. "Colonel."
"Yes, Major?" He asked innocently.
"I wanted to ask you something," she replied.
"Yes, Carter, I would be happy to judge the SGC bikini contest," he joked. She glared, and then smiled. "I need to go to my office. But, if you don't mind walking with me, shoot."
She decided it was best to wait until they were alone, so she walked with him to his office. Once they arrived, she shut the door and took a seat. He was busy searching the small room for a file.
"The way you were looking at me this morning, sir," she began. "Did...uh...did we...you know?" She blushed. "In the time loop."
"Sorry. Don't kiss and tell," he winked.
"It's me," She growled. "Please, sir. I just want to know."
There was silence for a minute, and she wondered if he was going to be really cruel and just keep her guessing forever.
"Yes, Carter, we you know'd," Jack told her, taking a seat.
"We did?" She smiled. "We did."
"Yes." He nodded.
"So..." She paused, and then stopped. She wasn't going to ask that – no way!
"So what was it like?" He said, reading her mind. "How did it happen? Well...It was several time loops in. We'd taken the loop off and I was doing several things I shouldn't. Like Gate Golf...with Teal'C. Then I got in to my civvies, walked up to Hammond, called him George, handed him my resignation and then you came up and asked me why. I replied, 'so I can do this.' And I kissed you. You kissed back, by the way. You're a good kisser." He grinned.
"Wow," Sam thought. She sat back in her seat. "So...that was the end of that loop?"
"Yep. Went on to the next one. I left Teal'C to have some fun. Not sure what he got up to. But we explained what happened to all of you as usual, then went off. I convinced you to sneak off home and we went to my place."
She frowned. "I wish I could remember."
"I remember that it was the best day of my life," Jack smiled. "I wish you remembered it. Because that is all we're going to get."
"For now," she said. "For now."
Sam stood up and shot him a smile, and then left him alone, grinning as he remembered the best day of his life.
