It all began when Ron had just left to spend time with his family for Christmas, leaving Harry and Hermione sitting and talking in the Grand Hall (where feasts took place). Except there were only a few kids sitting around talking and there wasn't any food.

"You never told me, Hermione." said Harry.

"Never told you what?"

"Why you aren't spending time with your parents?"

"They decided to go to Egypt or something, for there anniversary. I decided to let them go without me. I think you understand why..." Hermione was on her laptop and while speaking to Harry, she didn't take her eyes off the screen.

"I thought their anniversary was in July?" asked Harry, trying to sneak a peak at what Hermione was typing. She noticed his curiosity, and quickly turned her laptop away from him.

"Stop being so nosy. And yes, there anniversary is in July, except mum had to work that night, so she promised they would go somewhere 'special' and 'romantic'."

"I'm not being nosy. But why would they go at Christmas time?"

"Yes you are being nosy and it was a spur of the moment thing. They rang me a few nights ago and told me to pack but I said I would rather stay here with you." Harry smiled and for the first time in about an hour, Hermione looked up from her computer screen. She noticed Harry's smile and smiled back. But the moment quickly ended and Hermione went back to looking at her laptop.

"Seriously, Hermione! What is so great about your laptop today?" asked Harry, hopeful she would finally tell him.

"Well, if you must know, I'm chatting."

"Chatting?" began Harry. "What's so great about Chatting online when you can talk with me in real life?"

"Well I've met someone! He's soooo nice Harry! And the best part is he goes to Hogwarts as well!"

"So... wait a second.... you met a guy while chatting online and he just happened to mention he was a wizard and he goes to the infamous Hogwarts? Really, 'Mione. Really?"

"Yes!"

"Oh my god. You need help, Hermione. HELP."

"I can't believe this! You don't want me to be happy do you?"

"All I'm saying is BE CAREFUL. This guy could be a fraud and you could accidentally expose all Witchcraft and Wizardry!"

"Hmmph. Whatever." And with that, Hermione walked off, very, very pissed off.

Later on that evening, Hermione was in the Gryffindor common room, still on her computer. She had avoided Harry all day, by staying in the common room and talking to her beloved, Geoff (the guy from the online chatroom).

The time was 6:39pm when Harry walked in to warm up against the fire; he'd been out in the snow all day having numerous snowball fights with Cho and Luna. As he walked into the room, a sudden wave of tension flowed roughly throughout the room and a chill went down his spine. He hated fighting with his friends. So Harry tried to start a conversation.

"Hey, Hermione. What have you been up to all day?"

"Geoff thinks your being stupid as well."

"Ummm.... Hermione..... Who's Geoff?"

"My new best friend!"

"C'mon, 'Mione."

"Don't talk to me unless you can be happy for me."

Harry tried to, but he just couldn't be. He couldn't stand the thought of some internet freak perving on poor innocent Hermione. So he stormed out of the common room and up to his.
