Lost – xVampirexBunnyx – One-shot – Second in the Ego Series.
Hermione thinks Draco is going to get lost in some unfamiliar territory.
Potions class, normally bearable, today, intolerable. Why? It was the very first class since Christmas and to promote inter-house unity Dumbledore decided that the teachers chose partners from other houses in their classes. Harry and Ron got all the luck; they'd been paired together because there were more Gryffindors than Slytherins in Potions.
And Snape, who was in a particularly vindictive mood, had forced Hermione and Draco to pair up. Oh well, Hermione thought, at least its four people to a potion today. It wasn't that she really minded Draco being her partner; it was just that he acted like a twelve-year-old most of the time.
After all the instructions were copied down onto a piece of parchment by Hermione, they got to work, Harry and Ron shooting death glares at Draco (who was happily oblivious) every few seconds. "How's Ego?" Hermione asked the blonde conversationally, smiling at how her best friends' eyes bugged when she asked.
"Good, but he's gaining weight, I think someone else is feeding him," Draco shot a pointed look at Hermione, who blushed pinker than their potion.
Yes, she'd been feeding him behind Draco's back. It wasn't as if it were a crime, and besides that cat was far too small for its own good. Hermione opened her mouth to answer his unasked question but hesitated when she saw a faraway look on his face. "Don't get lost," she warned quietly.
Draco's eyes snapped to her face. "Get lost where?" he asked, glancing around pointedly. "In case you didn't notice Granger, we're in the dungeons."
Hermione smiled. "Yes, but I'm afraid you'll get lost in thought, it is, after all, unfamiliar territory for you."
The Slytherin was confused for a moment before understanding dawned on him. Ron and Harry grabbed their wands, expecting him to try and hex Hermione but Draco just smiled. "Good one Granger," he said before throwing some rose-hips into their potion.
It's fun to get lost sometimes…
