Leaning against the wall, I laughed and shouted " I did it, Neo. I did it for you and for V. " Even to myself I sounded crazy. Sutler was dead. Mind it was not truly my hand, yet still it was ultimately because of me. I was allowed to celebrate now. I looked down at the bloody holes in my chest, for a moment I felt nothing.

Then the pain started and I could not help but remember... Neo, his back against the wall, staring at me. Those dark-eyes accusing me in silent agony. Seeming to say " How could you ? How could you ? I didn't ask for this. " I hadn't wanted him to suffer, I had made his death short. I had, internally at least, been estatic when he had come back.

The memory faded away.

' I can make it back to the station. Evey is waiting for me, while I wait myself. ' I started walking, ignoring the pain. I didn't know how long I had walked. When pain and dizziness overwhelmed me, I found myself staring at the floor.

I blinked in confusion as a voice said "Come on, Smith. Get up, it's not over yet."

Raising my head, I stared at " V ? "

The man smiles briefly, if it weren't for his voice I wouldn't have recognized him.

"Don't be a lazy git, get up. You can rest later. That's it."

I forced myself up, the mask didn't matter anymore. Let Evey see, I would die anyway. I walked behind V, he asked about mundane things and I answered. I couldn't help but be startled as he vanished and I fell.

When Evey shouted " V ", I realized that I had made it. She stared at me before she whispered " Smith ? "

Thru the pain I forced out " It has been ten years since a living person called me that. Ten incredibly long years and it ends tonight. " I laughed as I quoted Neo's words, I could hear him say them again. From when we had enough of being used all those years ago.

" I don't want you to die... but it'll be a relief right ? "

"Thank you for that, Evey. Yes, it truly is a relief after all this time. You were a wonderful friend."

I stared and then I blinked at the form standing behind Evey.

' It can't be... can it ? I don't believe it, it has to be a trick.'

" Neo ? Neo." I shouted, scrambling up and running. I didn't expect to crash into him, we fell and he smiles up at me. Dear God, he was even more beautiful than before.

" Smith. Or is it still Vengence, my love ? "

" My name is Smith. I love you, I missed you so much. "

"Sshh, we're together. It'll never separate us again."

V's voice interrupts us " Hey, love-birds. You wanna see the show before we leave ? It's gonna start in a few seconds."

' Show ? Oh, right. Nice job, you forgot your own plan.'

I pulled Neo up with me and startled when we appeared on top of a building. We watched as Big Ben and the fire-works exploded. In the midst of the fire-works, I gasped " Neo... is that ?."

Neo turned and grinned at me " Yes, Smith it is. Come on, there are some people I want you to meet."

I walked in with Neo and V.

It was beautiful, nowhere near Neo's level, but it was still beautiful.
