A/N: Home sick today. Writing like a fiend. Have apparently abandoned the use of pronouns. Wanted to use the word "whirlwind" in a story. No idea why, but this is the result.
Chocolate
Stolen kisses always taste the sweetest, like the chocolate you sneak when your mother isn't watching, or the summer nights when you tiptoe out to watch the sun rise. Those moments with Harry, the ones between all the chaos and killing, the ones that made the rapidly spinning world stop for just a while, were Ginny's chocolate. And chocolate was her favorite food.
Ginny knew how much she needed Harry, and it scared her. It scared her to need anyone, because everyone was just two words away from death. And being in love with the man all these words were being shouted at left her constantly sick with worry. Oh dear. She was turning into her mother.
Still, Ginny wouldn't give up on Harry. She thought of just last week when they had been walking around the Hogwarts lake, trying to see how far they could go before they leaned in for another kiss. It had been a beautiful fall day; Ginny had never seen a clearer sky. She supposed someone must be trying to make up for all the horrid things they, the youths of war, had been forced through. She wasn't going to forgive so easily.
For just a few hours, she tried to convince herself that this was all real. That they were just two carefree people in love, spending time together before reluctantly trudging back up to the castle to slave away on a Potions essay. It almost worked.
Suddenly, a gust of wind had blown up a whirlwind of red, green, and gold, and Harry grabbed her by the waist, leading her in an impromptu waltz through the leaves.
Yes, Ginny had fond memories of that afternoon, until an owl had arrived with news of a Death Eater attack. Harry had left her. It was hard not to feel bitter; they ruined everything.
Ginny pushed those thoughts from her mind before they consumed her; they led down a dangerous path. She was so grateful for those stolen moments, she really was.
And right now, Ginny decided she was going to get some more chocolate.
C'est le fin.
