One morning Josh woke up with Nikki safely in his arms. She looked so peaceful as she slept. It was at that moment that he realised that he wanted to wake up like this every day for the rest of his life. With Nikki curled up in his arms.
Later on that day Josh went and payed a visit to Nikki's dad. He decided that he wanted to do propose properly by asking her dad for his permission and blessing. After the 20 minute drive he arrived at Nikki's parent's house.
Her parents owned a big and beautiful white house that had a beautiful garden out the front that was well looked after.
*Josh rings the doorbell*
"Mr. Caetano. My name is Josh Holiday. I am not sure if Nikki has mentioned me?" Josh said with a slight bit of fear he was unable to hide.
"So finally I get to meet the man who has made my daughter so happy. Please come in." Mr. Caetano said opening the door.
"Would you like a drink?" Mr. Caetano asked when Josh sat down.
"No thank you." Josh replied.
"So Josh, Why exactly are you here?" Mr. Caetano asked with a sense of curiosity in his voice.
"Well sir.... I want you to know that I love your daughter very much and I was hoping to get your approval for me to ask Nikki to marry me. I will never be able to give her what she truly deserves but if you give me the chance I want to spend the rest of my life trying to make her as happy as she has made me." Josh said anticipating what Mr. Caetano was going to say.
"Josh you are the best thing in Nikki's life. You are the only thing she ever talks about. I know that you won't hurt her. She loves you so much and has been the happiest we have ever seen since you came into her life. It would be an honour for this family for you to be a part of it.
"Thank you sir. You have no idea what this means to me. Now all I have to do is ask Nikki." Josh replied.
"Any ideas on how you are going to propose to her?" Mr. Caetano asked.
"Well I am going to do it tomorrow when I am going to have dinner with her at her house. A couple of months ago she told me that when she was growing up she wanted a clown fish named Lance-a-lot. I have been doing some casual work for a company that dive for coral and native fish. I have actually got one for her. I am going to have a little treasure chest in the tank with the ring inside. Then I will ask her what goes in a treasure chest hoping she knows to look in it." Josh said with a huge smile plastered on his face.
"That is so beautiful. You should have seen Nikki growing up as a kid. She would always wish for a clown fish. She always said that when the fairies brought he a fish she would name him lance-a-lot." Mr. Caetano said slightly laughing remember little Nikki saying this.
"Well, I had better be going. Thank you for your approval sir." Josh said firmly shaking Mr. Caetano's hand.
"Thank you for making Nikki so happy." Mr. Caetano said just as they were walking out the door.
"Hey Josh.... Good luck!" Mr. Caetano said just before Josh got into his car.
That night Josh couldn't sleep. He could feel the mixture of excitement, Nerves, Happiness, Anxiousness but mostly the anticipation of what she was going to say. Would Nikki say yes or no?
Only time would tell.
